Chapter 15

I was sat frozen on the bathroom floor with thoughts running around in my mind. I couldn’t be. I’m just ill. Must’ve caught something. Right?

I heard someone next to me trying to get my attention but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. All I could hear was a loud ringing in my ears and a pounding in my head.

Pregnant again with a...

...Baby...

...Jayden’s baby!!

“Lacey!” I finally snapped out of my trance when the person shook me and practically shouted in my face

I looked up to see Aiden knelt down beside me looking extremely scared and anxious. When my eyes met his, I saw him sigh with relief.

He cupped me face in his hands “God, Lace, you scared me for a second there”

“Sorry” I mumbled as I got up from the floor and pulled the flush in the process

Aiden held onto me tightly as I regained my balance and just about managed to stand on my own two feet. I let out a shaky breath and ran my hand through my hair.

Grabbing someone mouthwash, I cleared my mouth of the sick taste “Are you alright?” Aiden asked

I nodded weakly and spat out the mouthwash “Yeah, must’ve caught a stomach bug or something”

Aiden nodded with understanding. Guilt wracked through me at the lie I just told “Okay, do you want to go home?” he asked

I wanted to go home but if I did, they would know something was up so I shook my head “No, I’m fine now. Let’s finish dinner, I don’t want to ruin Becky’s birthday” I smiled and grabbed Aiden’s hand

We made our way back downstairs to see that everyone had finished their main course already. Becky jumped up when she saw me walk in “Are you okay?” she rushed over to me

I swatted her off “I’m fine. I’ve just a stomach bug or something” I forced a smile on my face but after knowing Becky for years, she could tell the obvious lie

She stared me right in the eye to say ‘we’ll talk later’ “Okay, hope you feel better soon”

“Thanks” I mumbled and sat back down at my place

“Oh honey, we put your food in the microwave if you still want it” my mom said

I smiled “Thanks mom, that’ll be great”
