chilled mornings and rainy evenings
cozy sweatpants and fuzzy socks
a good book and hot chocolate
a light blanket and quiet stillness.
glittery white, invisible grass
sparkling trees made of dripping glass
laughter floating through the air
three tier men made of fluffy white snow
snowball fights with those we hold close.
bonfire nights, glowing red embers
friends grinning from ear to ear as they talk and laugh, and rough house too
crispy marshmallows with melted chocolate and brittle graham crackers stuffed messily into mouths already dripping with laughter
adding fresh wood, flames dancing higher and beautiful firefly embers scatter up, flickering out into the night.
huge family dinners with turkey as the main meal
family missed a year last seen and naming all the things were thankful for
cousins come and play all day oh how long its been
sitting around the living room with stories to be told and gossip to be shared
all laughing and grinning like the time between visits wasn't months long.
stunning light shows and red nosed little ones staring bright eyes at the wonder around them
picking the perfect tree to decorate with little balls of glittering joy and smiles
gifts wrapped and stowed away in a secret place, little ones thrilled over a man in a red suit and red nosed reign deer
early mornings and late nights, messy living rooms paper thrown everywhere in anticipation of what it covered
big breakfast and even bigger dinners long rides home but satisfies hearts, gaining parents and children fast asleep in the backseats.
winter days have so many lovely and wondrous things to enjoy and happy times only add to the many beautiful wonders of winter.
