Eddie POV
I sigh as I rest my head on the soft grass and gaze up at the night sky. Glistening stars are scattered all around, set perfectly on a blue to purple ombré sky. I'm lying next to Richie on a small hill, stargazing at 10:30 p.m.
I turn slightly and look at him, this stunning boy just an arms length away from me. He seems so relaxed, so peaceful, as he stares longingly at the beautiful sky. The moonlight shimmers in his hazel eyes and dances on his cheeks, only adding to his charm.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Richie says, a half-smile playing at his lips.
"Fuck you, Rich," I retaliate, trying to look annoyed although I can feel the blush inevitably covering my cheeks.
For the next 10 minutes we stay silent, studying the sky some more. But I can't help it, and my eyes flick back to Richie. To my surprise, he's staring right at me, and I quickly look in the opposite direction.
Suddenly, a rush of confidence surges through me and I slowly start to move my hand towards Richie's. But it doesn't last long, and I stop halfway. Not wanting to seem like an idiot, I'm just about to draw my hand back when I feel something soft.
I look down at mine and Richie's hands, now intertwined, and back up at Richie, a shy smile on my lips. It is in that moment, staring up at the dreamy sky holding hands with Richie that I realise.
Shit.
I've caught feelings for my best friend.
