Y/N's blood went cold as she heard those words, and she could see that they had a similar effect on the others.

       'My brother has South Hwanghae.'

SH's eyes were the size of plates, horrified; Kangwon's jaw was slightly open, a shocked look on his face; Chagang's expression was cold, eyes narrowed to slits; and Hwang looked drawn, like all of the life had suddenly been sucked out of him.

And North... North looked absolutely murderous.

________

North's blood felt like it was boiling as he raised the phone back up to his head.

"Where. Is. She." He was struggling to keep his voice from becoming an outright unintelligible snarl.

"She's safe." His brother's detested voice buzzed in his head like angry bees, only heightening North's anger. But at the same time, he still felt the longing that hearing South always instilled in him.

"If you hurt her at all-"

"I won't." Despite his bravado, North could hear the familiar quiver in his other half's voice- uncertain, scared. He probably hadn't thought of this plan by himself. "Not if you come here. Alone."

"I'm not walking into Seoul unarmed," he snapped. "I'm not an idiot." His blue knuckles were whitening around the body of the phone, the plastic casing creaking under his grip.

"Not Seoul. The Freedom House, just over the border. You know it?"

North knew it. A government complex that housed an American-led 'human rights and democracy' organisation that had ties to the CIA, that his main road over the DMZ led to. He hated to let his brother set the location, but the sheer hot panic and rage that swept through him at the thought of his smallest province, alone and scared in South Korea, was enough to make him skip the negotiations. He needed her back.

"I know it," he growled. "I'll be there. And South- I swear on my Glorious Leaders, if she has a single scratch on her, I will destroy you."

He slammed the phone down with a crash, cutting their connection.

________

Y/N watched as North aggressively hung up the phone. The country stood there for a moment, trembling with rage as blood started to leak from his hands, nails digging into his palms.

She expected him to scream and start punching walls, but instead, North took a deep breath. When he spoke, his voice was as cold as any glacier.

       "We are getting her back."

Immediately his provinces broke their frozen stances.

"I'll call the others," SH said, voice brisk as she reached into her skirt pocket for her phone.

"I'll start calling medics for the battle." Kangwon's face was serious, as he, too, pulled out his cell phone.

"I will start arranging evacuations for those closest to the border in South Hwanghae." Hwang was apparently taking over operations in his sister's province in her absence.

"The military will be pulled to the border immediately. Pyongyang-Kaesong Highway." Chagang's voice was as emotionless as ever, but hard rage sat on his face.

No one fucked with his cousins.

Y/N hovered, uncertain of what to do. She couldn't wrap her mind around it. Hae had been kidnapped? Bright, lovable Hae? It seemed impossible.
