Not Leaving

They were seated at the dining room table waiting for the others to get back, while they sipped tea. Y/N, Hwang, and Hae (who had been filled in on the events) were glaring at China.

"Aren't you mad?" Y/N asked Nipponia, who shrugged.

      "He told me."

Russia was dozing off, head on the table.

"Maybe you should go to sleep," Hwang suggested. "You took Israel today-"

"Yesterday," Nipponia muttered, finally looking at China irritably. "It's past midnight."

"Don't make bets you can't win," the Chinese Countryhuman said innocently.

"No," Russia mumbled, lifting his head. "Gotta wait for Пап."

Nipponia rolled her eyes, and shoved Russia's head back down on the table. "Sleep here, then, baka. I'll wake you up."

China gave her a knowing look, and she growled at him. "Don't speak."

"So," Y/N asked after a few moments. "What's going to happen to Pale- um, him?"

Hwang's eyes brightened. "I've read about this, back before Korea forbid me from essays like those, but I've never seen it before. I'm going to need to observe him to find out."

"Hwang," Hae scolded. "Isn't that a lil bit insensitive?"

"I'll wait until tomorrow, of course." Hwang pushed his glasses up, looking like he was already eagerly anticipating it.

"I could tell you, if you want," China offered, not looking at Y/N.

Hae hesitated. "Ah don't... really wanna know."

"I do," Hwang cut in. "Tell us."

China leaned back, getting comfortable. "Right now Israel-Palestine's people are under Martial Law, so they can't fight. But they're getting used to being one people. The cultural clashes are reflecting in the republic- he feels split."

Hwang had whipped out a pen and a pad of paper, eagerly scribbling everything that China said down. "I take it that both of them being religious is exacerbating it, yes?" he asked, looking at the country.

Hae quietly sounded out the word 'exacerbating,' looking confused.

China nodded. "They're both religious freaks in warring religions, which will make it especially hard. Once CCCP gets them all under control, and bans religious mania, Israel-Palestine should calm down, and start to become a different person."

"A... different person?" Hae asked uneasily.

The Countryhuman smiled at her. "Yes. His two personalities will stabilise, making him a full new republic. One will be more dominant, though, most likely Palestine, since he was on the winning side."

"Ah don't... wanna hear anymore of this." Hae looked nervously at Hwang. "Can you make him stop, brother?"

Hwang nodded, also looking vaguely sick. "I think I've heard enough. Thank you, China."

"What's wrong?" Y/N asked worriedly. Her friends both looked suddenly nauseous.

"Nothing." Hwang quickly shook his head. "I just haven't gotten much sleep, as of late. I should go." He stood up abruptly. "Goodnight, comrades." He left.

"'Night," Hae said, scampering after her brother.

"Are they okay?" Y/N asked, looking at Nipponia.
