So far, it had been an uneventful day. I had early morning training with the warriors, so my afternoon schedule was completely vacant. I was bored out of my mind and couldn't think of anything to do. My muscles ached, so I didn't want to take a walk or anything like that, but I also didn't want to just sit around. As I laid sprawled out on my bed thinking of things I could do, I realized that today was the perfect day to have a good afternoon fuck. My excitedness quickly vanished when I remembered how my last sexual endeavor had ended bitterly. Shit, I thought. I can't fuck around anymore because I found my mate.

Speaking of that, Elias kept crossing my mind more and more frequently. It felt like every other fucking thought I had was of him, and it was fucking irritating to say the damned least. I would think of his stupid fucking smile and his shyness and how soft his skin was when I grabbed his wrist.

Whenever I was with the warriors on the training field now, I felt my eyes unconsciously scan the benches to see if Elias was there. A few days ago, I looked over and saw him passed out. As much as I hated to admit it, he was fucking adorable. He slouched as he slept, breathing slowly and deeply. I want him to sleep next to me so I can hold him.

My eyes widened at that fucking intrusive thought. That was where I drew the fucking line. I sat up on my bed in a swift, abrupt motion and put my hand on my forehead. What the hell was wrong with me? When Felix told me the mate bond was strong a few days ago, I didn't fucking expect this shit.

I decided to take a nap and try not to dream about Elias. Somehow I succeeded, and I figured the moon goddess didn't want to further test my patience and growing irritability. As I got up, I stretched my arms out and looked at my clock, seeing that it was already early evening. Slowly, I got out of bed and went to my bathroom, splashing some water on my face to wake me up all the way. Before I even turned the sink off, I heard a couple knocks on my door followed by the sound of it opening.

"Xander? Are you in here?" It was Felix, leaning the top half of his body through my door and looking around my room.

I came out of the bathroom and he came in and shut my door, both of us heading towards the end of my bed. Felix looked at me with kind eyes and a warm smile, but I'd known him long enough to tell that he was about to bring me some news that I might not like.

"What is it?" I deadpanned.

"Well, I planned a dinner," Felix said, staring at me and waiting for my reaction. "It's in about an hour."

"Ok," I responded. "I'll get ready then."

"Great. Also, Aspen, Luca and Elias will be here."

What the hell? I thought he meant a formal dinner with important fucking members of the Shadowclaw pack or an allying pack. He invited those three fuckers over again and didn't even tell me. Before I could retaliate, Felix was already shutting my door and I could hear his footsteps growing more and more distant as he walked down the hall. That fucker.

After throwing on a black shirt and some joggers, I reluctantly made my way down the corridor to the elevator and ultimately to the dining hall. I opened the grand doors and walked down to the end of the long table where Felix sat. Thank god those three shitheads aren't here yet, I thought. I don't want to deal with them any longer than I have to.

I plopped down in the seat that I sat in last time and put my hands behind my head, looking at Felix displeasingly as he greeted me.

"Hey," He said casually.

"Hey, asshole."

He chuckled at my remark. "It won't be that bad. Last time went fine, remember?"

I nodded but remembered when I fucking found Elias sifting through Felix's confidential paperwork. Felix didn't know about that though, but the dinner itself technically did go fine. I shrugged and sighed.

"Whatever. I'm just here for the food."

Moments passed and my stomach was about to growl when one of the doors to the dining hall opened. I moved one of the floral arrangements on the table out of the way to see Luca, Aspen and Elias walking towards Felix and I. Great. Let the fucking show begin.

The three of them were about to sit in the same seats that they did last time when Felix spoke up. "Hey, Aspen, why don't you sit next to me this time?"

She looked at him quizzically since Luca and I were already sitting to Felix's right and left.

"Xander, you wouldn't mind switching seats, would you?"

I swear, he was acting so damned annoying today. Now he wanted me to switch seats?

"Why?" I questioned, trying to suppress my irritation.

"Aspen, Luca and I talked a lot last time. I just wanted us to sit closer so we didn't have to yell across the table."

I clicked my tongue at his odd reasoning. "Fine," I huffed, getting up and moving one seat over.

"Um, hi," a quiet voice spoke after a moment.

I looked up in front of me to see Elias giving me a timid smile and a small wave. Fuck, I thought. This is going to be hell.
