August 24, 1973

Stevie woke up with a jolt at twenty-five weeks pregnant. Her hand finding the bottom of her stomach and her other grabbing at Lindsey's bicep. He woke to her touch and he looked at her. Tears were welling up in her eyes.

"Lindsey somethings wrong. I can feel it, Something's wrong. Something CAN'T be wrong." She sobs.

"Okay, okay...I'll call Dr. Harris. Are you bleeding?" Lindsey soothes standing up and heading to the phone in the bedroom.

She lifts up the blanket and checks herself before she shakes her head. "No, I'm not bleeding, it's just a really sharp pain." She explains.

He nods and dials the number. He exchanges words with the Doctor and then he makes his way back to the bed where Stevie is holding her stomach and crying.

"I'm going to go wait for him and let him in. Do you want me to call your mother?" Lindsey asks.

"No." She sniffles.

"Alright, I'll be right back." Lindsey kisses her head and she sniffles before she rolls onto her side.

Lindsey waits on the front porch for the doctor and as the older man approaches Lindsey stops him.

"Dr. Harris, before you go in, I need to tell you something." Lindsey sighs.

"What?" He asks.

"She's carrying twins. Adams, my wolf said that it was a boy and a girl, and even though the girl was really healthy. The boy wasn't. I think he died but Lily's not telling her anything about the pups because if I'm being perfectly honest, She doesn't want kids. The only reason Lily told her about the pup was that Carol was going to swipe at her stomach. Stevie told me that even though she's twenty-five weeks along Lily has not spoken to her about anything. Not the genders not the problems with the little boy, but I did tell her that we were having a little girl. So Dr. Harris, unless it's detrimental to her health...don't tell her." Lindsey begs.

"You know, it's against my nature to withhold anything from my patients and as much as I don't like it, given the circumstances, I won't tell her." Dr. Harris nods as Lindsey leads him into the house.

Lindsey holds her hand while the Doctor examines her and Stevie just sniffles into Lindsey's chest.

"Stevie, I...I don't see anything wrong. You aren't bleeding and it may very well just be normal pregnancy cramping. But if you do start bleeding call me back." Dr. Harris demands.

"Is her heart beating. I need to know if her heart is beating." Stevie begs.

The doctor nods and takes his stethoscope and starts listening to her stomach.

"One very strong heartbeat." The doctor nods.

"Thank you." Stevie nods.

"Alright, I'm going to get going. Take the day off tomorrow and rest. Seriously, REST." The doctor urges.

"But tomorrow is the quarterly and I..." Stevie starts.

"Lindsey can do the quarterly tomorrow Stevie you really need to rest tomorrow." He tells them.

"Alright," She concedes.

"Get a good rest, Lindsey." The doctor motions for him to follow.

When they're outside the house the doctor sighs.

"She had a partial Miscarriage. The remaining fetus, because she's at twenty-five weeks will just be born dead and there's nothing we can do about it. But there are risks. She's at a much higher risk of hemorrhage after birth, but I'm not going to let that happen. She's also at a much higher risk of going into preterm labor. I need to try and get her at least twelve more weeks so you can't let her overwork herself." The doctor tells him.

"I won't." Lindsey shakes his head.

"And you need to consider telling her. You were right I only found one heartbeat. Had she shifted she would've known because she would've heard the heartbeats,  but she hasn't shifted since the fight with Carol and even then there was too much noise and everything going on to hear the heartbeats. And that reaction in there about her needing to hear the heartbeat. She loves that baby girl whether she wants to admit it or not." The doctor pats his shoulder.

When Lindsey gets back up to the bedroom, there's a white wolf curled up in the middle of the bed and he laughs.

"Really Steph?" He asks.

"I need to hear her heart. I was sure I was losing her and If I had lost her the pack would've been screwed so I just needed to know." She explains through the mind link.

"Well, how about I shift with you and we just finish out the rest of our night like this huh?" He asks.

The white wolf thinks for a moment and nods as Lindsey crouches to the floor and changes into his wolf. The two of them curl up on the king bed and Stevie nuzzles against his neck.

"Steph, you promise me that you take this easy. Please don't overwork yourself stay in bed for a few days please. You don't want this to happen again do you?" Lindsey inquires.

"No, these cramps are horrible." She admits.

"What do you want me to tell them tomorrow?" Lindsey questions.

"Tell them truth. I don't hide things from my pack." She sighs.

The next morning, Lindsey was freaking out. This was going to be the first time he was officially in charge of the pack and because he was an Omega he didn't know how all of it was going to be perceived. He dressed up in a pair of jeans and a white buttondown with a blazer he was walking out of the bathroom and Stevie had shifted back to human form and she was sitting up in the bed.

"Hey, how are you feeling?" Lindsey questions.

"No more pain, but I just feel like an overwhelming sadness." Stevie sighs.

Lindsey knew why so he just smiled and hugged her tightly.

"So how do I do this today?" He asks.

"Literally, during pack meetings. I just sit there and listen. The leaders of each division tell you what's going on. It's open to the Pack so people will come and go out of the conference room as they please and we leave the windows and doors open so everyone can hear. If they ask you questions just answer to the best of your ability. Take this. It's my notes and you'll have to read them at some point but you could also use them to answer the questions to the best of your ability." She tells him.

"Alright." He nods kissing her head.

Lindsey was at the head of the table in the board room as people started flooding in. John was the first and the Beta just cocked his eyebrow and shook his hand.

"Where's Stevie?" He asks.

"She's...um, I'll tell you later, but you should probably send Christine out to our house." Lindsey nods.

"The baby?" John questions.

Lindsey just sighs as the meeting comes to order.

"Omega Lindsey where's Luna?" One of the men asks.

"Yes, um...She's at home in bed, we...we had a scare last night. Both she and the baby are fine but the Doctor is requesting that she stays in bed for a few days. She sends her regards and she wishes she could be here today. But I have her notes and I'm hoping that I can do this justice." Lindsey explains.
