Shane sat at her counter drinking coffee as she waited for Angie to get up.  Today was a big day, Angie's mother was coming to town with her fiancé.  What would happen now that everyone was in one place was anyone's guess.  Angie had finally started to talk about how she felt about her Mama T remarrying and none of it was good.  Angie clearly was seeing in Tina's behaviors, what Shane had been seeing.  Tina has not come to terms with her lingering feelings for Bette and it showed whenever they were together.  Angie was very perceptive, something she got from Tina.  Angie was having a problem with her mother's decision not to fix her relationship with her Mama B and just come home.  How this was going to play out with Carrie in the mix was probably the biggest unknown.  No one knew Carrie nor her position on the situation.

Bette, in an action that was completely out of character, flew to New York to avoid the situation. This left Angie, Alice and Shane to be the welcoming committee for Carrie. Making it more interesting was Bette being named the new Director of the Peabody Art Foundation. Bette would now return to Los Angeles one of the most powerful women in the Art field. This new position was very serendipities.  It was keeping Bette in New York longer than expected and would require many trips back while she transitioned the Art Foundation's main offices to Los Angeles. It still amazed Shane how Tina could bring Bette to her knees emotionally. Bette, who was such a strong and powerful woman lost in the emotional abyss of her love for Tina Kennard. In a way, Shane thought, it was probably a good thing Bette was tied up in New York for a few more weeks. It would give her a chance to pull herself together to deal with the new reality of Tina with a new partner.

"Uncle Shane," Angie called out, bringing Shane out of her thoughts.

"Over here," Shane called back.  "How did you sleep?" She asked as Angie walked into the room.

"I would have slept better if Buddy wouldn't have taken up the whole bed," Angie laughed.

"I told you that sleeping with Buddy wasn't a good idea." Shane smiled, as she watched Buddy come trotting in after Angie. "It looks like he slept well," she started to laugh.

Angie grabbed herself a cup of coffee and sat down next to Shane.  "So... Mama T and CAAARRRIIIEEE are coming in today."  Angie said in a smart ass tone as she rolling her eyes.

"Angie," Shane said to grab her attention.  Angie's act of rolling her eyes did not go unnoticed as another Tina behavior.

Just as Shane was about to say something to Angie, the doorbell rang and Shane heard Alice coming up the stairs.

"Good morning you two."  She said with her usual perkiness.  "I brought donuts," she said sitting a pastry box on the table. "Nat said she would meet us at Dana's for lunch with Tina and Carrie," looking at Shane.

Alice and Shane had talked to Nat about the situation with the Porter-Kennard family. They asked her to help with assisting Angie due to the growing concern that Angie was becoming collateral damage in the brewing discord between Tina and Bette. Nat was a therapist, Shane and Alice thought she would be able to guide them in the best approach to support Angie. Alice and Shane had tried there best to stay out of the emotional battle Tina seemed to be waging on Bette, however, it was becoming more and more difficult as they witnessed the impact it was having on Angie.

"I can't wait to meet Carrie. We have heard so much about her and it will be nice to put a face to a name." Alice said while looking at Angie, who grimaced as she took a sip of her coffee.

"She's alright," Angie said half heartedly, "She's different, but you'll like her."

"Did you call your mom in New York?" Shane inquired. "You know she wanted to talk to you before we went to lunch."
