Peeta instantly turn and look at where I was looking, the others run back to us and stopped when they saw the shadow figure coming up ahead.
“KATNISS! PEETA! COME OVER HERE NOW!” We ran as fast as we could to them but the shadow figure starts to follow us, that’s when we saw 5 giant lizard mutts coming fast towards us. “RUN! RUN FAST!” Boggs screamed
I grab Peeta’s hand and pull him, nearly dragging him away because he was stunned when he saw the mutts. We are half way near the exit when Peeta stops and pulls his hand away from my grip.
“Peeta we need to go, we’re half way there only a few meters up.” I tell him but he’s not responding, I check the tunnel making sure that the mutts are not there then check the team just to make sure we are still complete. I count them but two persons are missing.
“We are missing 2 soldiers Boggs! Where are Leeg 1 and Leeg 2?” I tell him
“They are holding the mutts back, they volunteered to do this when the time comes.” He tells me, this crash my heart; two soldiers sacrifice their lives for me, 2 more soldiers that I killed! However, maybe they are not dead, maybe they are still alive and maybe they are still there, just injured, badly injured.
“Boggs we need to go back for them, they might still be alive!” I say crying
“It’s useless Soldier Everdeen, the odds of surviving over 5 giant lizards mutts is minimal even if we all fought with them, the best thing that they could do is hold it back and that’s what they did. They manage to hold the mutts back so let’s just agree to not waste their lives and keep on moving.” Jackson tells me
“She’s right Katniss, Let’s go! It won’t take long before the mutts’ catches us.” Cressida adds and they all move except for me because I’m waiting for Peeta and Gale because he is waiting for me but he eventually leave giving me and Peeta some privacy
They are right; we need to keep on going. I can’t waist the lives gone for us, for me. I turn and grab Peeta’s hands but he pulls it away again
“Peeta we need to go, the mutts are following us!” I tell him
“You killed the two soldiers real or not real?” He asks me, What? What is he even thinking?
“Not real Peeta, I did not kill them. The mutts did and if we won’t go now they will kill us too so let’s go!” I grab his hand and make a run but he just stayed on his spot and stares at the ground. We can’t leave Peeta behind, I won’t leave him. I sprint towards him and hear him mumbling words I can’t understand.
“What? What are you saying Peeta?” I ask him
“You’re the mutt, you killed the two soldiers, and now you’re going to kill us!” Peeta screamed at me
“No Peeta. I’m not the mutt, Peeta.” I grab his face and make him look at me, that is when I saw his eyes dilate and turns into black. He’s having it, he’s having a flashback! I make a run but he catches my hair pulling me back and onto the ground. I screamed for help, I screamed for Gale. “GALE!!! GALE HELP ME!”
Peeta throws me and my head collides full force on the concrete wall of the tunnel making my visions blurry. Peeta grabs my arms and was about to throw me again when I saw a figure punch him in the head and I fall again on the ground. It’s Gale, I know that’s him, he’s the only one who’s not afraid of hurting Peeta no matter what. Cressida pulls me up on a sitting position and damps her handkerchief to my head.
“Katniss are you alright? Can you stand?” She asks me, I nod and as we stands a stumble back a little but she has her grip on me and quickly supports my body
“I’m sorry” I tell her “My head hurts so bad.” I hold the handkerchief she placed on my head I feel it soaked with something, I take a look and saw bright red, it’s blood!
“It’s alright, just keep it in your head, it will lessen the bleeding. Are you okay? Is your baby fine?” I grab hold of my stomach and feel my bump, thankfully, it’s not hurting and I’m not bleeding down there.
“Yes she’s fine. I’m fine don’t worry.” I saw Gale and Peeta still fighting; Peeta’s struggling away from Gale’s arms and reaching for me.
“YOU’RE A STINKING MUTT! YOU’RE GOING TO KILL US ALL!! FINNICK KILL HER NOW!!” Peeta keeps screaming to me, Finnick runs closer to him and tries to calm him down
“Peeta it’s not real, she’s not a mutt and she won’t kill us especially not you.” He grabs Peeta’s arms and he starts to calm down, he stays quiet for a while and just sit when all of the sudden we hear the hissing sound again
*KATNISS!!! *KATNISS!!
“We need to move now!” Gale screams I ran at sat closer to Peeta who was just sitting and sobbing with his hands on the ground. I try to convince him again to start moving with my most calm voice
“Peeta come on. Let’s go, we need to go now please.” I say to him and reach for his hands
“KATNISS COME ON!!!” Gale screams at me,
“I can’t leave him Gale, I won’t leave him. You go ahead, we’ll catch up.” I tell him
*KATNISS!! *KATNISS!!! *KATNISS!!!
My heart pounds faster with every hiss of the mutts.
“Peeta we need to go now please. Please Peeta.” I cry to him but he’s not responding. He just sits there still like a statue.
*KATNISS!!! *KATNISS!!! *KATNISS!!!
