Chapter 2

I was eating with Gale and other refugees in the cafeteria, mashed potato and lamb stew with plums from 13’s garden, I finished mine so fast and I still want more. I’m always hungry lately, I think it’s because of the medicine, some medicines makes me hungry so much that I eat probably three or four more plates than usual but that was when I was in the hospital, when I got discharged and started eating with other’s and Gale at the cafeteria, my food supply got limited, I have to follow what the protocol of 13 gives with regards to their food. I think Gale saw me looking at his food and he slides up his bowl of lamb stew into mine,

“Eat it, and…please stop drooling” Gale said and laugh, I looked at him and we just laugh even more.

“Thank you so much Gale” I told him and he smiles.

I’m almost done eating Gale’s Lamb stew when a soldier from 13 approached us

“Soldier Everdeen, you’re needed in the command center” the soldier said

“Why?” I said

“President Coin’s order” the soldier said

“Can’t she wait?” now I’m irritated

“I believe not, come with us”

“I’ll come with you” Gale said to me

“No, it’s okay! I’ll be fine, I’ll see you afterwards” I told Gale

He nods and the soldier escorts me to the command room, I enter the room and saw President Coin with Plutarch and other people that I don’t know. President Coin insisted that I sit so I did.

“So what do you need from me?” I said

“I’ve been thinking about your proposals to be the Mockingjay and agreed to it as long as you agree to my conditions” President Coin told me, I told her I’ll be the Mockingjay as long as no tributes and or traitors will be harmed if they got saved, buttercup can stay with my family, I can go hunting with Gale, she’ll have to announce this agreement publicly and I’ll kill Snow.

“What’s your condition then?”

“No tributes and or traitors will be harmed, your cat can stay as long as he’s not bothering anyone and still he has to follow protocols, you can go hunting but only for 2 hours 08:00-10:00 in the morning and all that you’ll gather will be given to the kitchen for food supply. Any form of defiance with us and with your job as a Mockingjay will void the terms and conditions set. For the last condition, I’ll be happy and glad if you’ll kill Snow” that final condition makes her smile, now that my conditions have been acknowledged I now have to be the Mockingjay

“Okay, I’ll be your Mockingjay as soon as you announce it in the public, what should I do then?”

“I’ll announce it later this afternoon. For now you’ll go to 8 and make propos, Beetee will hack the capitols system and we will show your propos to them, for them to see that you’re doing good and has accepted your position, also for other districts to see what the capitol’s doing destroying and bombing other districts.”

I stayed quiet for a while and think, I have to go to district 8, see what the capitol have done to it, what I’ve done to it with my foolish act. I sighed and eventually nod, I saw Coin grin then said

“Excellent! You’ll go to District 8 tomorrow exactly 07:00am” she introduced me to the other people inside, Cressida, a girl whom I think is in her late 20’s or early 30’s with that fierce look in her eyes and shaved head, Messalla, a much older guy and will be the camera man and Polux, a boy in his late 30’s and I think is an avox. “Meet your TV crew Soldier Everdeen, they’ll be in charge with your propos from here on, Also Plutarch has a present for you, talk to him. Dismissed for now, you can go” and I leave as soon as she told me I can.
