It had been two days since the gang arrived in Manila. They had been hopping around the city, shopping and eating.

As the days passed, the dread was also increasing in Grace as she prepares herself to open up to her grandmother, about her sexuality. Her three friends constantly stayed by her side as she approaches her Lola, who was knitting in her rocking chair. She sits on the floor by her Lola's feet, resting her head on her grandmother's knee.

Amara, Luca and Talia sat themselves a little further away to give them more space, but not too far, so that they could still hear them converse.

"Lola, I gotta tell you something." Grace calls. Her heart was beating erratically, that was for sure. She was positive that if her heart rate kept increasing, she might as well die. She breathes in and out slowly, her Lola frowning, anticipating what she had to say.

"Do you know what the term 'bisexual' mean?"

"Wala ako," she replies, shaking her head, indicating that she didn't.

"Okay, well. There are a lot of people in the world, and some of them are different than the others. These people, they have a different concept regarding love. The term 'bisexual' is referred to a community of people who love both men and women, Lola."

"Grace, ano ang sinusubukan mong sabihin?"

"What I'm trying to say is," she stops. She looks towards her friends for support, and they all smile at her, telling her to be brave. She looks down on her feet, refusing to meet her grandmother's eyes because she was too afraid.

"What I'm trying to say is, I'm one of those people, Lola. I like both men and women."

A few seconds pass and her Lola does nothing. Nobody said anything more, they just kept quiet. Grace begins to allow her sadness to swallow her when she feels a hand stroking her soft hair.

"When did you realise this?" her grandmother asked.

"She speaks English now?" Luca whispers. Talia shushes him, "Boy, you better shut up."

"Three years ago," Grace replied, looking at Amara. Amara was her first female love. And she would never forget the day she realised that she was not one for choosing genders when it came to loving people.

"That's late. I realised I liked both men and women when I was fifteen."

Everyone looked at Lola wide eyed. They did not expect that, let alone the goofy smile that was on her always angry looking face.

"Lola?" Grace called.

"Ang maganda kong anak. I've always known you were special." Lola smiled down at her granddaughter with pride in her eyes.

"You're bisexual too?" Grace asks. Lola merely nodded her head. "So you're not ashamed of me?"

"Why should I? My granddaughter is a brave woman, she dares to love all because she is fair and equal. I shouldn't be ashamed of that, I should be proud." Grace chuckles and gave her grandmother the tightest hug.
