Pitter patter rain drops fell on the window sill as I stated out into the street.
I was getting late for coffee.
But I shouldn't.
I couldn't be late.
In a flash, I picked up my yellow polka dotted umbrella and walked out into the pouring rain. It was three blocks to the cafe and I didn't mind walking. But today I was speed walking. My boat converse began to absorb water and it started to seep into my socks and chill my feet. I muttered a curse and kept walking/running.
'You're late.' The cashier, Ken, smiled at me as I shook off the rain water and left my umbrella in the bin.
'I know. Caramel latte?' I asked.
'Coming right up. Get settled in.' I nodded and went over to my table which as usual was empty.
But as I laid my bag down on the table the distinctive black scribble caught my eye.
'Hello to the girl who sits here every week from 4-5pm reading a book and listening to music:D'
