HER MOTHER'S DAUGHTER

Chapter one(The return)

Stepping down from the airplane, Charlotte, a young lady in her mid twenties couldn't help but feel nervous. She never thought she would be back in this town this soon. She always had it at the back of her mind that she would come back here one day but not this soon. Her mind traveled to many places at the same time. All the memories of the past years came flooding back. The happy moments, the sad and even the heartbreaking moments. She tried not to think about anything at the moment but she failed woefully because as she shut her eyes trying to block the memories she could see his face, his perfectly structured face. She could see him smiling dazzlingly at her. She couldn't help but smile.
"What are you smiling about"Five year old Kath asked her mother.
She looked down at her and shrugged.
"You must be happy we are here in swell ville, right mummy?"Kath asked.
"Yes dear, I guess am happy to be here"Charlotte replied.
Kath looked suspiciously at her mother.
"What?"Charlotte asked.
"You don't look  happy to me"Kath said.
"Am happy"Charlotte said.
"You are nervous"Kath said
"Am not"she lied.
But her daughter could read her like a book.
"You don't have to be nervous"Kath said"am sure your friends would be happy to have you back"
Charlotte smiled at her, it was just few years ago when she was this tiny baby  and now she has grown so big both in body and mind. She is really lucky to have kath in her life, she survived all this years because of her.
"When did you become this smart"Charlotte asked
"I have always been a smart girl. Am your daughter after all"She said.
Charlotte picked her up and spun her around.
"Put me down mum, am a big girl. This is so embarrassing"she said.
"I know you like it when I spin you like that besides no matter how big you are you will always be my baby"Charlotte said ruffling her hair.
"mum!! Not my hair. You are ruining it"kath said fixing her hair"the girl got to look good".
"Stop it Char, not my hair. You are ruining it. The boy got to look good"He said.
She shook her head trying to stop the memory.
"Kath, you are gonna sit right here and wait for me to get something over there"Charlotte said putting her down on the seat.
"I wanna come with you"Kath said.
"No you can't, the place is crowded. Just wait here. Don't move an inch. Just stay right here, okay"Charlotte said.
"Okay"kath said.
"I will be right back, no talking to strangers"She said and left.
"Can i sit here?"Henry asked.
Kath looked at him and nodded.
"Thank you"He said and sat next to her.
"What is your name?"He asked.
"Am not supposed to talk to strangers or tell them my name"she replied.
"Oh!!"He said"so where is your parents?"
"My mum went to get something over there"Kath replied.
"And your dad"he asked.
"He is not here with us"kath said.
He smiled wildly at her.
"Your mum must be really beautiful to have a daughter as  pretty as you"Henry said.
"I won't argue about that"kath said.
"So she is pretty?"Henry asked.
"Prettier than anyone you have ever seen"Kath replied.
"I will take your word for it"Henry said.
"You should because am always right Kath said
"Am always right"she would always use that word, Henry thought.
"Kath", Kath said.
"Huh"Henry said returning back to reality.
"My name is Katherine but you can call me Kath"she said.
"I thought you weren't supposed to tell strangers your name"He asked.
"I don't consider you a stranger anymore"She said smiling.
"Kath, I love it. So we are friends now?"he said with a smile
"Yes we are"she said hugging him.
That hug arouse so much in him, the way her hair smelt was so familiar. It brought back memories, memories he had been struggling to forget all this years. He shut his eyes and hugged her tightly. He felt at peace, not wanting to let go. The last time he felt this way was about five years ago.
"What is your name"kath asked him.
"My name is..."he was about to say and his watch beeped.
"What is that"Kath asked.
"Uhmm, nothing. I have to go kath. See you next time"He said and ran off.
"I hope so"She said.
"I promise"he shouted back.
" Hey you forgot to tell me your name"She shouted but he was already out of sight.
"Who are you talking to?"Charlotte asked.
"Mum!!"Kath screamed"don't sneak up on me".
"'So who were you talking to?"Charlotte asked sternly.
"It's was just this interesting guy I met", Kath said excitedly.
"I told you no talking to strangers"Charlotte said.
"But he is not a stranger, he is my friend"Kath said.
"He is someone you just met today, how can he be your friend"Charlotte said.
"It didn't feel like he was a stranger. I felt comfortable around him"She said
"Was he handsome?"Charlotte asked
"Very handsome"she replied.
"Well that why you felt comfortable around him"Charlotte said pinching her cheek.
"Ouch!! That hurts"Kath said.
"But still no talking to strangers"She said.
And Kath nodded.
"We should probably get going, its getting late"Charlotte said.
"Mum I felt safe with him, it was as if I knew him my whole life"Kath said.
"You should forget him already. I don't think you will ever see him again"Charlotte said.
"Of course I will"she replied sharply"I know in my heart that am gonna meet him and next time I must get his name"
"Next time don't speak to strangers, this time am gonna let it slide"Charlotte said.
"Yes mum"Kath said.
"Remember don't tell anyone your name"Charlotte said.
"I know mum", she replied.
"Let's go the cab is waiting outside"Charlotte said.
"Okay but I might have told my new friend my name"Kath said.
"There is nothing to worry about because am certain you won't see him again"Charlotte said.
"I will"Kath said.
"Why are you so sure?"Charlotte asked.
"Because he promised and I know he will fulfill his promise"Kath said.
"Why do you trust him that much?"Charlotte asked.
"I don't know, I just trust him so much"Kath replied
That left Charlotte speechless, how could she trust someone she just met, kath was never like that. She takes her time to study people before trusting them. 
"let's just go"She said and they left the airport together.
