15. Clubbing with Jenny

Next day I arrived at work at exactly 7:50 am, I sat in my office after exchanging pleasantries with Jenny.

A mail from my boss arrived shortly, it was a couple of minutes to eight and I was quite surprised as to how he knew I was already at work.

• I need file 602, bring it to my office immediately •

I pulled out the required file and ambled to Mr Donald's office with it

I knocked on the door and stepped in after hearing a 'come in'

"Good morning sir"

I walked towards him with the file in my hand, his eyes roamed up and down my body as I advanced.

"Here's the file you asked for" I respectfully handed the file to him and he yanked it out of my hand.

"Your dress is too revealing" he said, succeeding in taunting me

"I don't see anything wrong with my dress, it's quite decent"

"Don't talk back to me"

"I can and I will whenever my personality is insulted"

He slammed his hands on his table and rose angrily. He walked towards me menacingly and I did what I had to do, I RAN OUT!

I got to my office breathless and I tried catching my breath back with a hand placed on my chest

I promised to stop being rude but I don't think I'll stick to my promise if he continues being a jerk. We would never get along.

My boss was silent, he didn't send any mails requesting for a file or something neither did he ask me to come to his office. So I sat in my office idly.

At lunch time, I hurried to meet up with Jenny for lunch at the company's cafeteria.

"Isn't this Kathryn Conway?" David asked chuckling as he saw me approaching

"The one and only" I replied and walked over to where they sat.

"How are you doing Kathryn?" Jenny asked as soon as I sat down

"I'm good jenny.. How about you?" I asked with a small smile on my face

"I'm go--" She started but was cut off by Larry

"See who's here.. Kathryn the beauty queen" Larry teased.

Did I tell you Larry is a big flirt and charmer?

I rolled my eyes and ignored him. I exchanged pleasantries with everyone except Stacy and Alice who put on attitude.

"Its been forever since you had lunch with us..what happened?" Amy asked sweetly

"I was---" I started but was interrupted by Stacy's annoying voice "She was probably busy with the big boss" she said with an evil grin on her face

"Stacy! that's too deep. Tell me Kathryn, how many times have you slept with The CEO, I mean Mr Donald" Alice asked while Stacy laughed

"Stacy and Alice, what exactly is your problem with Kathryn?" Jenny asked in a High pitched voice

"Come on Jenny, we all know the CEO sleeps with all his assistants and Kathryn is not different" Stacy replied shrugging

"I'm curious about something though. Mr Donald hasn't fired her, she's been his assistant for almost four months, right Katy?" I ignored her question but she continued "none of his assistant lasted up to a month. There's something fishy don't you think?"
