Sage

It did no good. Every way led back to the city. Every scent, every breath. It all led to Ash and Ash was the city. The decimation. I growled in frustration. Every sense told me to go the other way. To seek what I needed else where. But what I wanted was there.

I growled as Zane came closer. My instincts wanted me to push him further away as well. There was no option. We did it together or not at all. Bracing ourselves, we pushed to move further into the city. Ash and rubble and dust. Nothing moved,  nothing breathed, the dust of death cascading down around us. Had anything survived?
