Maddy
The Ring
Right before Ryder and Bella publicly announced that they were engaged, Alice and I were talking about that ring that I talked about in the graduation.
"So," I began, trying not to sound suspicious, pouring bloodwine into champagne glasses, "I noticed that beautiful ring you had on. Might I ask where you got it? You see, when I was a child, I had a ring just like it that protected me from the sun," She sat there thinking for a few moments and told me,
"I stole it from a small girl, she looked about seven or eight, but yes, I stole it and it does protect me from the sun. If it was yours, then I need to return it." She began to remove the intricate ring from her finger, her eyes watering, as if she had lost a friend. I thought about what to say next but right as I was about to say,
"You can keep it," Bella and Ryder burst into the room and told us that they were engaged, and began what we would know the next day as the worst hangover the world had ever seen, and the ring lay on the table, long forgotten.
