Chapter Five

The Question

I knew the moment the girls said the same thing at once that they were of to a good start. When I got into my car with Bella she smiled at me and said,

"Thank you," I wondered why until she continued, "I didn't think that Alice and I would get along so well. Now that Maddy knows her, I - I feel like we're part of a family." I pondered on the meaning of those word the rest of the way back home. When we got home I got down on my knees as if I had tripped, I turned around grabbing the box in my pocket, pulled it out and said straight to her,

"Bella, I can't live without you. Bella... will you marry me?" I was afraid of the answer.

"You... You... You... BONEHEAD!!!" My heart began to crack, then splintered, and was about to shatter when she screamed, "YES!!!," The answer was more clear now. I got up, put the ring on her ring finger, and kissed her. It felt like we were kissing for hours when it was only for a few seconds. When we walked into the house, Alice and Maddy were sipping bloodwine, aged to perfection, a very rare and delicious drink, speaking to each other in hushed tones.

"Ahem," I said, trying to get their attention, "We have a very important announcement to make. Bella and I,"

"Are," She continued, walking up next to me, grabbing onto my hand, squeezing it tightly.

"Engaged!" We finished at the same time. There was a stunned silence, and Maddy and Alice began clapping, smiles on their faces.
