A silence falls upon us after Ashton’s lips detach from mine, leaving me wondering about the events that took place earlier tonight. Somehow, I don’t feel unsafe or threatened sitting beside Ashton, although somehow I should. His presence alone should make me fearful, but danger never crosses my mind, not once, not at all.

Halfway through the ride, my mother texts me to ask what time I’ll be coming home. Knowing Ashton, something might probably happen in a very short amount of time. I texted back saying that she shouldn’t worry about me and I’d be home late. I’m surprised to see she just sent me an agreeing smiley face back.

The car comes to a halt after a concern filled ride back to my house. I don’t make a move to exit the car, waiting for Ashton to say something, anything really. He kills the engine off the car and leans back in his seat. “I think I should stay with you tonight.” he suggests.

“No, that’s okay.” I mutter.

“I’m not asking you, I’m telling you.” he orders, unlocking the doors to his vehicle and jumping out. I follow his moves, not bothering with an argument.

I grab the the keys hidden between the two bricks on the porch and unlock the door, entering the house. The lights are all turned off indicating my parents are asleep. I slowly close the door and make my way upstairs, Ashton following my movements. We both take off our shoes before stepping onto the steps of the house, not wanting to make unwanted noises.

We make it to my room alive, thankfully. I walk into my room and throw my belongings onto the sofa and lock the door behind me, not wanting to do it later incase I forget and my mother walks in on Ashton asleep in the same room as me. Shit would go down, that’s for sure.

“Do you mind if I use your shower?” Ashton asks, breaking the silence. His body stands beside my bathroom, leaning against the side of the door frame.

“Sure,” I allow. “I have an extra towel on the second shelf when you’re done.” I smile briefly, hoping to ease the tension that’s been built up from the moment we left the car a few minutes ago.

I watch Ashton unbutton his pants and start walking into the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. Just as he does that, I let out a loud breath that I didn’t even know I was holding in.

I roll my eyes to myself and unlock the door to my room, walking to my brother’s room to grab a change of clothes for Ashton. I should be glad he’s staying the night with me out of concern, the least I could do is not let the guy sleep in his jeans.

I walk into the oddly furnished room and go straight to the closet, grabbing the first pair of plaid pyjamas I can find. I walk back into my room and go straight to my dressing room, changing into something more comfortable. I put on a pair of soft sweat shorts and a grey tank top. I remove the make up off my face before I spray on some body spray, exiting my dressing room with satisfaction.

As I walk out, I hear the water in the shower cut, letting me know Ashton has finished showering. I know it’s wrong to think this but hell, there’s a naked boy in my room, showering naked, naked.

I grab the plaid pants and knock on the bathroom door. Not even seconds later, the door unlocks and I’m greeted by a wet Ashton standing with a very low towel around his waist. I lose my breathe for a second before putting together a grammatically correct sentence.

“I thought you could use this.” I push the pyjama pants to his chest, turning away as soon as I do. He doesn’t reply but I hear the door lock behind him.
