Chapter 30: WHY ME

I was staring blankly while rotating the ring that Hal gave me on my finger. It became a hobby. I stopped with my trances when I saw Al and Caleb walking together at the covered walk and they were talking normally which was a shock to me.

I knew something happened between them and Al didn't tell me.

"Hey." I turned my head when I heard a familiar voice and seeing him made my heart feel uneasy but not in an unpleasant way. He made me feel self-conscious and I hated it because it was making me feel uncomfortable.

"Oh, hey." I stood up. "Sit down?"

Hal smiled and we both sat down on the bench. My fingers found the ring and played with it. It became a hobby without me knowing, especially when I get uneasy and nervous which mostly if Hal was beside me.

I glanced at him when he stayed silent and he was looking at the ring I was rotating making my cheek heated up and stopped playing with it.

"You kept it." He said and looked at me.

Of course, I kept it. It was precious to me.

"Why won't I?"

"You were avoiding me."

"I am not avoiding you."

He held his palm out. "Your hand."

I looked around because I didn't want anyone to see. I wasn't use to it.

I slowly placed my hand on top of his and he smiled as he held my hand.

"Does that mean your feelings didn't change?"

I was thinking about it for the last two days and I felt so confuse and unsure of what to do but when I looked at Hal. Everything seems to fit and look so right. I didn't want to let go of that feeling yet. I just wanted to find out where it would lead me.

I nodded my head and Hal grinned like crazy making me smile. I wrapped my fingers on his hand and leaned closer to him and pressed my lips on his. I just want to kiss him and he was surprised of what I did but still kissed me back.

We both pulled away and Hal slipped his fingers on mine and stood, pulling me up with him.

"Let's go somewhere." He said.

"I still have my last class." I said and he then nodded.

"I'll wait for you."

I immediately stood up when I heard the bell rung for dismissal of my last class and went out of the room. I was surprised when I saw Hal outside and he was indeed waiting for me.

I smiled at him.

"Hey, you waited for me." I said.

"I told you I will." He said and I nodded my head. That was why I was rushing outside the room.

I admit that I couldn't wait to see him.

Hal held his hand out and looked at me. "Let's go?"

I looked at his hand and threw all my worries about what people who could see us would think. I held his hand, bringing it down and walked out of the building while holding each others hands.

We walked to where he parked his bike and he gave me his extra helmet.

"Where do you want to go?" He asked and I watched him wore the helmet before I wore mine.

I didn't feel like going anywhere. "To your place." I said and he looked at me before he nodded his head.

I was gripping the hem of his shirt because he was driving a little fast after we passed the city and downtown area. I didn't want to wrap my arms around him because Hal might not like it and he's a guy.

I gasped when Hal suddenly increased his speed making me wrap my arms around him afraid to fall.

"Say something before you increase your speed!" I exclaimed and he just chuckled and turned left. I wrapped my arms tighter because it felt like we were sliding off the bike or worst, the bike would slide down the road.

We were silent the rest of the drive and I slowly leaned my head on his back when I felt sleepy but I stayed my eyes open, of course, if I didn't want to fall and I loved watching the scenery. I sat straight when I started seeing the vast ocean.

I was staring at the ocean until we arrived and I immediately went down to the sand and ran to the shore.

"Hal!" I called and he was smiling as he went down the stairs.

I waited for him until he stopped in front of me. I looked at him and I wanted to see how he really looked like when he was in his tail. I could picture it but it would be better if I really see him.

"So, it's really true your tails will sort of grow if water touches your legs?" I asked. I knew I asked it before but I just want to confirm it.

"Sort of." He said and I frowned.

"Sounds like you're not sure."

"I am sure." He said and held my hand and pulled me with him to the shore and we raced on removing our shirt and pants and I looked away because Hal just suddenly removed his underwear and my cheeks heated up when I heard Hal chuckled.

"Why are you blushing?" He teased and I looked at his face and I was fighting not to look down.

"I'm not and do you always do this?" I asked with my cheeks still warm.

"Do what?" He smiled and I wanted to smack his chest for teasing me.

"Undressing your underwear in front of someone else!"

He smiled at me. "That someone is only you." He said and I raised a brow. "No one knows except you." He held my hand and pulled me to the water until it reached our hips.

I didn't dare to look down since the water was clear and I didn't know if Hal was already in his tails or still in his feet since he was still standing perfectly.

"Then why me?"

"Because it's you." He said while looking straight to my eyes and I was still confused and no matter how I ask him, I know his answer would still be the same.

"Are you in your tail now?" I asked and it was kind of weird asking him that.

Hal chuckled. "No but you need to promise me you won't freak out like the last time."

I felt so embarrassed. "I won't this time, I promise and I couldn't help it." I could say that I already prepared myself for it.

Hal patted the top of my head and kissed my forehead.
