Chapter 17: SCRATCH THAT

A l b e r t

I didn't know what to say to mom after what happened. I was just hoping that the school didn't inform her about what happened that day which I think was impossible.

I felt like she would tie my feet with a rope and the other end of the rope would be tied at the rear of her car and drive down the city.

I was glad that Will went there to see me and I was expecting him to stay until mom went home and he could help me explain things to her because I have this feeling that she wouldn't believe me if I was the one to explain it to her. But Will chose Hal over me and I was starting to hate Hal for taking Will from me.

I was thinking what to say first as I paced back and forth in the living room and I looked at the front door when I heard the sound of the doorbell.

I hurried to the door and I opened it so fast thinking it was Will.

"Thank God, you came back." I said and I was surprised to see Caleb instead of Will.

"Um." Was all he could mutter when he heard me. "I think you got the wrong person."

"Absolutely." I said and I wrinkled my forehead. "What kind of disaster brought you here in front of my house?"

Caleb looked at me. His face was the last thing that I wanted to see that night but now, he was standing in front of me with his apologetic face and good looks.

"I wanted to check you if you're okay." He said. "I also wanted to talk to you."

"I'm fine and too bad, I don't want to talk to you. I have a lot of things to think right now and I don't want you to add." I said and my eyes bulged when I saw mom's car entering the lawn and parked in the garage.

"Fuck." I cursed and I wanted to kill myself right that time.

"I'm sorry. I swear that thing will not happen again." Caleb said and I didn't care what he was talking about. I was watching mom walked out from the garage and towards the front door. Right where we were and she looked normal. Like it was just an ordinary day and she didn't know what happened to school normal.

"Hey, honey." She greeted and then looked at Caleb.

"Mom, this is Caleb." I said and held her hand for a handshake and Caleb took it.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Castle." Caleb said and mom nodded.

"Handsome." She said and I just smiled. Forced smile. "Why didn't you invite him inside? Come in, Caleb."

"He was on his way home." I said as mom pushed the other door open and stepped inside.

"Are you?" Mom asked Caleb.

"I wouldn't mind staying for a while." Caleb said and I wanted to chop him with a machete. Why won't he just stay away from me!?

I glared at him as Caleb went inside the house but I felt slightly glad because mom didn't know the news.

"You Caleb should stay for dinner. I won't take no for an answer because Albert don't have friends coming over here since forever except for dear William." She said and I rolled my eyes.

Does she have to say that I don't have friends except for Will?

Caleb smiled. "That won't be a problem for me."

"Good. I'm going to change before I make dinner." She said and I watched her walked towards the staircase and then stopped.

"By the way, Albert." Mom said and looked back at me. "We have something to discuss and your friend's presence won't stop me from my wrath." She said and I felt a cold shiver ran dow my spine from her stare and her calm voice.

I know she knew about it already, I had a doubt. The school wouldn't fail to contact mom about things that was happening in school, even my low grades.

"I'm so dead." I said when mom went in her room.

"She knew about it?" Caleb asked.

"Obviously." I said. "She will going to hang me outside upside down and let me stay the night there."

"I will explain everything to her." Caleb said making me look at him.

"Why? I can explain it to her."

"I just want to help since it was my fault. I don't want you to get scolded because of me."

"Do whatever you want." I said and sat on the couch and turned the television on. I glanced at Caleb who was still standing and I motioned my hand to the settee for him to sit. It would be too awkward if I was the only one sitting.

Caleb sat not on the settee I pointed but on the couch, beside me making me move a little farther from him and watched the program.

Deep inside, I felt thankful because Caleb was there to support me on how to explain everything to mom in place of Will.

Speaking of Will. I turned to Caleb who was also looking at the television.

"About your friend." I started and Caleb glanced at me. "I mean, about our friend, what's up with Hal and Will?" I asked because Will never talked about it and he acts like he don't really like Hal but it didn't look like it.

Caleb shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. All I know is that Hal's obviously interested with your friend." He said and it was indeed obvious but it still surprised me.

"So, he's that way?" I asked and I knew Caleb know what I was talking about.

"Maybe."

"Are you, too?" I asked and I didn't know why I asked that. "Scratch that." I said immediately after realizing what I just asked.

I looked at the front door when my older brother arrive from uni and went inside and he was about to say something when his gaze turned to Caleb making him shut his mouth.

I was glad dad was out of town that week and Nico, my older brother, was the one using dad's car for a while.

He mouthed something to me making me frown and then he chuckled before he climb the stairs.

"Psycho." I muttered.
