"We've gotta get outta here before Quentin finds out we took Cameron."Michael said quietly, still holding me as he stood.

"Where do we go now mermaid."
Tide frowned but pointed down a hallway.
Natalie carried Tide while Michael held me.
Sliver was in 'Protect my master' mode.
His ears were perked up, his eyes darting around as we walked.

I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but some guard saw us and set off the alarm.
Michael grabbed the guards hand and plused, leaving the guard on the floor.
"We need to hurry! More guards will be here soon!"
Michael raced down the hall, electricity sparking around us.

Somehow, I wasn't shocked by it.
In fact... It kinda felt good.
I let the power seep into my body, making me stronger.

"Which way!?"

Tide pointed to a door, which we ran through and jumped out the other side.
About fifty guards had their guns pointed at us, Quentin in front of them.
"Michael Vey, give me back that little brat this instant, or I'll let my guards shoot you, then take Cameron."

I looked up at Michael, wondering what he was going to do.
Michael hissed "This is my son!"
Quentin rolled his eyes, his arms crossed.
"He's Hatch's son, he's a monster just like his father."

I was a monster.
I was just like my father.
Michael still held on to me, glaring at Quentin.
"Cameron is my son, and he's not a monster."
"He's a talented boy with great potential... And I'm not letting him waste it on you."
Sliver growled at Quentin in agreement with Michael.

Quentin put his hand up, signaling the guards to get their guns ready.
"I see you'd rather die then."
I closed my eyes, summoning the trees to attack.
Their roots rose from the ground, striking down the guards.
Quentin growled, ducking under a branch.
"Get him!"
Sliver lunged at Quentin, biting his hand and jumping back as he screamed.
"Little mutt!"

Quentin kicked Sliver, sending him crashing against the ground, whimpering.
Quentin snatched a gun from one of the guards and pointed it at Sliver, who was still groaning in pain.
I didn't have time to stop him.
I was still too weak.
Quentin pulled the trigger, sending the bullet through the air and into Sliver's chest.
Sliver screamed and sent still, no longer moving.

I pushed away from Michael, stumbling over to Sliver, who laid on the ground.

"N-no! Silver!"
I shook him, sobbing.

"No! Wake up! Wake up!"

Quentin grinned, holding his gun to my head.
"Get up, your going back to your cell."
I glanced over at Michael, who had a Resat strapped to him, while Natalie was unconscious.
Tide was on the ground, helpless.

It was only me.

I was the last one left.
I looked up at Quentin, anger taking over my expression.
With only a simple thought, the trees struck Quentin, making him crash into the ground.

Stars danced around my vision, but I didn't care.
I focused on crushing Quentin, just like he did to Sliver.
Quentin choked, trying to breath.
I would have killed him.
I would have ended his life right there, but someone called to me from behind, making me turn.
Michael groaned out, trying to sit up.
"D-don't."

I sneered and looked back at Quentin.
"You don't tell me what to do!"
"He killed Sliver! He doesn't deserve to live!"
Michael slowly dragged himself over to me, desperate to stop me.
"C-Cameron."

"No! I'm a monster, remember? I'm just like my father and you can't fix that!"
Michael gently grabbed my foot, looking up at me.
I tightened my grip, causing Quentin to grab the branches around his neck and kick his legs.
Michael took a deep breath, pushing through the pain and whispered.
"Your my son."
I froze, staring at Quentin, who had passed out.
"P-please Cameron, your not a monster."
"Your not like Hatch."
My grip loosened, tears filling my eyes.
I was his son.
He called me his son.
I fell down next to Michael, quickly deactivating the Resat.
I barley managed to rip the right wires out before black took over my vision.
