Chapter 35: trouble

Mia's Point Of View

I was lying in bed and staring at Ethan while he was sleeping, I sighed rubbing between his brows to remove the frown

I honestly can't just go and leave him all alone, especially since he gets nightmares more than he probably should

I placed my head on his back and sighed again as soon as I felt my eyes start to water I quickly sat up not wanting to wake him up, I threw my feet out of the bed and walked to the bathroom

I bit my lip and pulled my hair out of my face to see that my cheekbone looks worse than how it was at night

"Mia," I heard Ethan slightly whine

"In here" I said from the bathroom

I brushed my teeth, washed my face gently and pulled my hair in a messy bun

I heard Ethan whine again causing me to frown

"Mia"

I walked out of the bathroom to see that he's breathing so fast yet so hard, I quickly ran to the bed and tried to wake him up

He quickly sat up placing his hand on his chest as he tried to catch his breath i wrapped my arms around him and shushed him as i rocked us back and forth slowly "it's alright I'm right here" I mumbled kissing his cheek a couple of times

His breath hit my skin causing me to shiver "Shhh, you're okay"

He pulled away and wiped his tears aggressively "no I'm not"

"Okay calm down"

"Don't tell me to calm down, you don't fucking understand" he said breathing fast again

I tried to grab his hand but he slapped it away "Ethan please calm down, I'm only trying to help you" I said feeling my salty tears roll down my face

"Just stay away from me"

"I'm not gonna do that you know it" I said scooting closer to him

He grabbed his head in his hands and cried hard "I'm sorry" he choked on his words

I felt my heart skip a few beats as a lump rose in my throat, and i struggled to swallow it down.

I grabbed his hand slowly and placed it on the left side of my chest "try to get your breath even"

He lifted his head, his red eyes meeting mine he slowly nodded as I placed my other hand on the side of his neck to feel his heartbeat

I saw him close his mouth slowly and shake slightly

"C'mon baby it's okay"

He inhaled through his nose

I nodded "hold it in for two seconds" I paused "now exhale through your mouth"

He let out a breath, repeating the same steps all over again

I slowly kissed his temple
