Chapter 12- Revelation

I must have actually passed out because I found myself now laying on a cot. I must have started hallucinating and hearing voices before everything became fuzzy. My head hurt a little bit but it was a strange kind of pain, it was like I was stressed out but I had nothing to really stress over. Asides from a few details like not remembering much but I didn’t really stress over it because it would come back. It had to, I was counting on it to.

I stood up and made my way outside, it was dark by now so there was no light that would bother me, I decided some fresh air was well needed. Everything seemed a little more lively. The crickets sung in the tall grass as I followed a small trail and continued as I saw shimmers of light playing through the trees. Following my natural instincts to keep wandering forwards it was as though I knew that continuing this way would lead to an opening in the forest. Luckily not more than a few more minutes of walking with only the smell of damp earth mixed with the cool night’s breeze entered my lungs. It was a strange idea to get used to that I was dead. Other than the whole “non-beating” heart, everything else felt pretty normal.

I sighed heavily as I came to the clearing and with my luck  I was on top of a steep cliff. Tempted to jump off of it and end all of this, I settled for sitting on the ledge upon a huge rock and stared up at the seemingly empty sky.

I cupped my hands together and focussed on a small flame, rather than a large one that had nearly set me on fire.I closed my eyes and I just wanted to keep my thoughts on a small flame and sure enough a small dwindling flame danced in the core of my hand. I couldn’t help but smile secretly.

“You know when I first discovered my power I was seven.” Pretty boy didn’t hesitate before coming closer and sitting on the ledge next to me.

I wanted to tell him to back off, that I needed my space- but something inside me kept me from speaking. I was just so enthralled by him, I just wanted to watch him. I didn’t know if this was because of the bonding thing, if it was because of the fact that I did this to him or if it was just something entirely unknown but I didn’t move an inch.

“You were seven?” I asked , faking my interest as I continued to watch him.

His hesitance subsided as a smile slowly spread across his face. His dimples graced his cheeks and his teeth which at this moment looked entirely human, flashed me a grin that made something inside of me jump. Trying to ignore the feeling I looked away.

“ Our family -well the Underground. We’d go to the surface to attend church on sundays. One afternoon after church a bunch of us kids were  playing at the park. This boy Zathe, grabbed this girl Reena - who at the time I really liked. He tore her dress while trying to kiss her.” Perseus let out a low chuckle before continuing.

“I lost it. I felt my hands shake and it was completely out of my control before I knew it the entire park and vicinity was shaking and on the news they said the earthquake reached a 5 on the richter scale.”

The look on his face seemed to drop, wasn’t it a good thing that his powers were so strong? At such a young age though, is that even normal? I couldn’t help but sulk, so many questions that I feel I should know- that somewhere deep down inside me I knew I just couldn’t access it.

Perseus grabbed my hand, and I went from completely distracted to utterly focussed on him.

“Stop worrying about everything you’ll remember eventually. In the meantime.” He paused and grabbed both my hands in his and closed his eyes.

At first I just watched and then I felt it, it felt like an electrical current running between the two of us. I suddenly saw images in my head and then voices. There was Perseus who looked to be a little younger and was sitting in a classroom with strange children who were equally beautiful with the same silver in their eyes. Only their silver weren’t quite like mine, theirs were still. I focussed a little harder and suddenly I was standing in the back of the classroom.
