Chapter 51

Present time: Nidavellir

Lucifer staggered forward under the commanders shove and then stopped, he was already passed and didn't notice. The princess stared at the breach in the blackened wall and swore so violently that Gullveig actually stopped what she was doing and looked up. The very first witch of the nine worlds looked in the same direction and added her own vile curses to Lucifer's and rose to her feet. Sophia stopped chanting and looked up at Gullveig

"What are you doing? We cannot stop the spell now!"

Gullveig kept her eyes locked on the two black robed Druids who stood in the breach, he mind turned to vengeance and retribution. A weapon much like a grim reapers scythe appeared in the witch's hands, it burst into flames that were a ghostly white and blue.

"You keep the spell going! I have business to attend to!"

With a cry of hatred and vengeance, Gullveig raced off towards the wall with nothing but vengeance and murder on her mind.

Jason drew his blade and held it high as it burst into emerald flames. Beside him Eva did the same and her sword also burst into emerald fire. Jason frowned at it then sent a thought to Eva. Neither noticed they had stopped talking with their mouths and only used their minds now

"How the hell did you do that? Your element is air not fire!"

Eva smiled fiercely at him and tried for a cocky answer but she really didn't have one

"Honestly I don't know. I've always been jealous of your power and every time I see you use it I wish I could do it. I thought it again just now and some who it happened"

Jason mused on that as he watched Hell's army advance. It was funny, he had always been jealous of Eva's power. To have her skill with archery. He secretly wondered if she had the ability to summon tornadoes and hurricanes, the same way that Alexia could raise tidal waves or he could raise walls of fire.

"I had no idea that you were jealous of my power! Do you know I've never even thought of trying to summon a hurricane!"

Jason shook his head, there was still so much that they didn't know about their powers. There didn't seem to be anyone that was willing to teach them either. Odin would do nothing but warn them of the dangers of their Fae form. How transforming would drain their life force and kill them. It was odd, Jason didn't feel like he was draining or dying. In fact he had never felt so alive. A part of him wondered if Odin refused to teach them in case they ended up on evils side and used their powers against the Aesir in the final battle.

The two Druids continued to watch the advancing army, for some reason its pace had slowed considerably. Was it the sight of the two burning blades in the breach? Or was it the sight of the burnt and ruined bodies they were being forced to march over? Either way, their pace was getting slower all the time.

"What's that strange light?" asked Eva

"I don't know, I was just wondering the same thing. It must be the witches working more magic"

As the continued to watch the strange blue-white light coming ever closer, they heard pounding footsteps on the ground behind them. Their heightened sense of hearing picking up on the thunder of countless boots pounding towards them.

"What do you think?" mused Jason "are they here to help or drag us back to the fort?"

Eva grinned flashing her elongated canines

"They can try and drag us back"

Jason laughed at that and braced himself to fight. King Rekkr drew up a safe distance from the two druids, he signalled for his men to halt, then walked forward alone. He held up his hands in a surrendering gesture as they turned to look at him. Their altered appearance made him uneasy. The druids reminded him of the elves of old days but not quite the same. They were a lot more civilised than these two for starters and a lot less wild. There was also the fact that Alfheim had been lost or destroyed many centuries ago so they couldn't be elves.
