Chapter 50

Present time: Muspell

Sutur was full of joy, his mind was swimming with visions of golden flames that devoured and consumed everything. The black demon didn't know what drugs were or what being high felt like but if he did he would have compared this feeling to that. In his heightened joy he ignored the niggling doubt in the back of his mind. Gold was the wrong colour for fire, it didn't burn like that. It brought back memories of green eyes with gold rings. The exact same golden colour. Those wicked pale creatures with pointed teeth, their tricks and sorcery had driven Sutur back, always back always retreating as his fires died and his lands cooled. Still onwards the vile things marched. They had cold, frozen white stuff that fell from the skies in thick flurries. That was the last thing the demon remembered, being covered in frozen white, it numbed him, slowed his heart and put him into a deep sleep. Sutur balled his fist and slammed it against the invisible barrier that held him prisoner. The air shimmered and vibrated. Sutur frowned, the impact wasn't as solid as before. It was still solid and the barrier certainly held firm but still there was some definite give. Perhaps the magic of those pale creatures was finally failing? Perhaps his time was coming again? A new dawn where all the worlds would once again burn. Suture smiled at the thought, oh he planned to make it all burn.

Out on the plains before him, the ring of standing stones was complete, Sutur still couldn't guess its point or purpose. It seemed like an awful lot of effort just to rearrange the landscape. The strange withered army had all packed away their tools and were acting even more oddly. They were forming up into two parallel lines, they faced each other and then dropped to their knees. And that is how they had stayed all day. Not moving or talking, perhaps not even alive anymore? Sutur shook his head, he still couldn't get used to all this strangeness. Still his time was coming, he could feel it in the air. Maybe it was time he got his army organized?
