Chapter 13

As our laughter came to a stop, he wiped away the small puddle of water that accumulated at his tear line, threatening to escape and roll down his smooth cheeks.

"To bad that won't happen though, god, that would have been great for you huh?"

"Yeah" I chuckled a bit more and then stopped. My face slowly fell, the smile melting into a face of confusion. "Wait...what?" I must of heard him wrong. There was no way he had said what I thought I heard, after talking to me like that, after what he had said. Could he really have said that I wouldn't be able to be happy?

He chuckled nervously and ran his fingers through his black hair. "Yeah, you see, I umm...." He looked around and then at me, then smiling like he had an idea.

"Here, just come with me avery, I'll tell you after we eat something"

My eyes sparkled when he mentioned food, I was so hungry that it wasn't even funny. Food was my life, I loved that stuff. spicy food, salty food, mild food, sweet food, all of it! Well...sort of, I wasn't really much of a sea food fan but I did like clam chowder.

"So...when you say food, you really mean...real food?"

He chuckled and stood up, looking at me with a big goofy yet sexy grin. "Of coarse I mean real food, what did you think I was going to do, give you cat food or something? I'm not that disgusting."

"Well you never know after the hell I've been through" I sat up out of the bed and smiled at him, hell, I didn't even know his name, did I? "Hey, what exactly is your na-" he cut me off by grabbing my hand and flinging me to my feet.

"Come on avery, I'm starving, we can chit chat later!"

When I got steady on my feet he pulled me through the door and through a series of hallways. Expensive looking paintings were hung up on the walls. The doors were a deep reddish brown color, probably constructed out of cherry wood. The plush red carpeting and marble floors brought the fancy and extravagant beauty of the place all together. Although he was pulling me along at quite a quick pace, I was still able to take in all the beautiful details of what he called his home. I couldn't help but wonder if there were more floors to this house and which floor we were on.

"Here we are!" He seemed just as excited as I was and I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm.

He opened the two large wooden doors and revealed the most beautiful kitchen I had ever seen. A dining table fit for a king was right in front of my eyes, with tons of chairs to serve everyone at a large party. The floor was wooden and smooth to the touch. My bare feet walked across them with ease and I was shocked at how warm they were, usually I would feel a cool sensation when touching stone or wood flooring. In the corner of the room was a large area that resembled a counter where you'd order food in a restaurant. Behind it was a giant kitchen with tons of stoves and pots. And my most favorite part was the chandelier that hung from the tall ceiling, lighting the place perfectly.

"Do you like it?" He smiled down at me with a grin, knowing himself, just how beautiful the whole place was.

I smiled up at him and nodded at a loss of words. I could hardly even keep my mouth closed.

"Are you two ready for dinner?" A tall old and knowledgeable looking man in white clothes smiled at us. It was easy to see that he was the chef of the house. He smiled at me with old and tiny blue eyes full of nothing but kindness.
