Five: Movies

What did Jellal say when he got three strikes in baseball?

"Sorry. I'm Mystogan."

My last class just ended. I don't have practice today, and since I'm supposedly going to the movies today, I have to get a hold of Jellal. He's in all the advanced classes, so I don't really see him in school that often. We aren't even really friends, we just talk at work.

I'm calling him so I don't have to deal with tracking him down.

"Lucy?"

"Hey, I was wondering if you could cover my shift today, please?"

"Can I ask why?"

"I had something... come up."

There's a pause. "Yeah sure."

"Really? So you're okay with it? Great. Thanks a lot, Jellal."

I hang up.

"Jellal's covering my shift," I announce.

"Speaking of, does he go to this school?" Lisanna asks.

"He's a commoner, but yes, he does," I say.

Cana frowns a little. "Didn't he come here on a scholarship?"

"If he's a commoner, yes," Juvia reasons.

"Yes, he is," Erza confirms. "I've seen his records. He's a genius."

"That he is," I agree, having seen his homework before. Not to mention he's let me copy him on more than one occasion.

"So, movies tonight?" Erza asks for confirmation.

We all look at each other and nod. "Yep."

"Are we just going to meet there, or...?"

"Loke can drive us!" I offer. "I mean, we can just hang around at my place until the first show. Or... I guess we can go to a restaurant or something."

My friends follow me out the front gate, and find Loke parked across the street. He's waiting outside the vehicle, leaning on it with his arms crossed.

"Yo, that's a lot of people," Loke says as we approach.

I say, "We're going to a movie tonight. You don't mind driving us, would you?"

"Of course not. If I did I'm pretty sure I'd be out of a job."

I laugh. "Why do I always forget that? It must be because I still think I'm a burden."

"If you were a burden, I wouldn't be getting paid."

I don't know what he means by that so I'll just ignore him.

I turn to my friends. "Well. Your chariot awaits."

They all get in. Lisanna and Cana sit in the very back, and Erza, Levy, and Juvia sit in front of her.
