2. Lights Out (Part 1)

    Ben woke up the next morning at about 6,two hours before school and stared up to his ceiling and said to himself
"Why Dr.Connors? Has he always been the Lizard but never shown it? Maybe his disappearance over the summer was because he was being blackmailed or something worse?"
Ben continued to look at his ceiling in thought when once again he spoke to himself quietly
"I know what it's like to keep a side of yourself hidden,the side that if you revealed could endanger your loved ones."
Then Ben had an idea
"Wait...Could his disappearance have something to do with my mom and dads? It has too right? I mean I have super powers and presumably so did my father. So if the people that were controlling Dr.Connors they could've gone after my parents"
Ben got up out of his bed and got changed. He looked at his phone and saw a text message from Joel, a new student who came to New York in the last couple months of school. The text read
"Hey Ben, the school paper is offering money for some pictures.I think you would be interested since I know you're a little short on cash."
Ben replied
"I'll consider it for sure. Thanks Joel"
Ben looked out his window and looked out into the street and thought
"Poor Joel man, he's been getting bullied ever since he got here by David. It's nice of him to think about others rather than himself. He's the real hero."
Ben closed his window and put his Spider-Man suit and Web-shooters in his back pack.
"Since I'm up early I think I'll go visit Grace before school"
Ben walked down the stairs and walked out the door. He put on his headphones,played some music and walked to Grace's house.

    Ben approached Grace's house and saw the living room lights on
"Looks like someone's up early" said Ben to himself. He tried to open the small fence door but it was locked
"Maybe breaking it wouldn't be the best for a secret identity" he said jokingly. Ben unlocked the door and walked to the front door. Ben knocked on Grace's front door. The door opened but to Ben's surprise it was actually her dad Carson. Carson looked at Ben and said
"Hello Ben"
Ben looked at him and said
"Hello Mr.Perryman,may I come in?"
Carson nodded and stepped aside for Ben to come in. Ben walked through the front door and saw Grace sitting at her couch. Ben looked around the house and said
"Very nice house Mr.Perryman."
Carson then closed the door and said
"Well thank you Ben."
Ben approached Grace and said
"Are you feeling alright after last night?" Ben asked concerned.
"Yeah I am. I have a cut or two but other than that I'm fine." She replied
Ben had a sigh of relief and said
"Thankfully Spiderman was there to get you." Carson looked at Ben and said
"Please Ben don't give him any credit. All he does is cause more destruction and endangers people. As far as im concerned he's just as much a criminal as Connors." Ben then remembered that Carson had tried shooting at him and thought to himself
"Yeah, go ahead and ignore all the people I saved over the summer and even Grace." Grace replied to Carson
"Dad he saved me! You know your daughter?" Grace looked at Carson with anger. Carson ignored her and continued to make breakfast. Grace looked at Ben and said
"So Ben I got a message from the school paper saying that they're willing to pay for pictures to be in the schools paper. I know you're short on cash so that could be a great opportunity for you" Grace smiled at Ben and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Joel told me about that but I have one question. Is it first come first serve or?" Ben asked.
"They're holding a contest. So all you have to do is submit an original photo good looking photo to be entered into the contest" said Grace.
Ben thought to himself
"Well I do happen to know a certain wall crawler."
Ben nodded to Grace. Carson called out to Grace
"Grace breakfast is ready, and Ben feel free to have some yourself I made some for you too." Ben and Grace walked to the dining table and took a seat next to each other.
"Well I have to get going" said Carson
"Bye dad" said Grace
"Bye Mr.Perryman" said Ben
Carson walked out and drove to work.

    Grace and Ben finished their breakfast and walked out the door. Ben looked at Grace and said
"So has Joel talked to you latley?" Asked Ben
"No not recently,why?" She asked
"I kinda feel bad for the guy. He's been picked on by David for the entire time he's been at Midtown." Ben then took a seat at the bus stop next to Grace.
"Yeah it really sucks. He's in a bad situation too right now. He's working for his dad as an electrician just to make money for his sick mom." Grace and Ben both looked sad.
"Well hopefully his situation gets better" said Ben
"Me too" replied Grace
The bus approached and Ben and Grace got on.
