Another seed whizzed by and hit Inuyasha in the head. I raised my hands up in innocence when he glared at me, assuming I had done it. Shippo snickered behind Sango and I couldn't help but laugh at the child's antics.

By now Inuyasha and his gang were gone. They didn't feel the need to stick around any longer after Miroku made the mistake of muttering something about me baring Sesshomaru's child when he asked first. With his demon ears Sesshomaru heard his muttering quite clearly and as you can imagine he didn't react well to the comment.

After much pulling and dragging I finally got Sesshomaru back to our bedroom. He insisted he was fine, but after he spent days awake and worrying about me it was my turn to worry about him and he needed to rest.

I noticed the mirror across the room as we entered and couldn't help but gawk at myself. I still couldn't believe how large I'd become so quick.

"I bet you're feeling quite smug right now." I said to him, not able to take my eyes off my belly in the mirror.

"Smug?" He questioned. His head appeared next to mine in the mirror, watching me with a quirked brow.

"Uh, yeah." I commented like it was obvious as I placed a hand on each side of my stomach. He shifted behind me and placed his hands over mine. "After all your determination to have me 'bare your child' and all of mine to resist-not only did you accomplish getting me pregnant, but you managed to put two of them in there." I chuckled just thinking about it.

Sesshomaru looked like he was deep in thought as he stepped back to disrobe for bed. I did the same and started to untie my sleeping gown I had had to wear all day since it was the only thing in the castle loose enough for my belly.

"If yearning for the day our children take their first breath in this world is feeling smug, then I guess you could call me that." He finally responded.

Of course that's his response I thought, my heart swooning at his perfect answer.

I folded the gown and laid it on top of the dresser. My eyes gazed up the mirror once more, but this time I found them lingering on my neck; staring at the smooth skin where the Mark had once been.

My swooning heart dropped, but I kept my face as neutral as it was before. I wanted to turn to Sesshomaru and beg him to forgive me for what I'd done, but the subject might upset him. This wasn't the time to bother him, he needed his rest.

Sesshomaru was already in bed and I climbed in next to him, curled up on my side. He wrapped his arms around me and gently pulled me into his chest, curling into me.

I didn't know if it had been an hour or two, but I found myself just lying there awake in his arms. I couldn't help but replay that moment over and over again in my head when I dug my poison claws into my neck.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" Sesshomaru's voice breaking the silence of the night startled me and I gave a small jump in his arms.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" I asked him the same, not answering his question.

"I can't fall asleep as long as you're awake. I don't care how long I was awake for, you still need your rest as much as I do." He answered.

"But how could you tell I wasn't sleeping? I didn't move a muscle or make a sound, I made sure of it." My lower half kept on my side, but I leaned my shoulders and turned my head to try and see Sesshomaru as best as I could in the dark.
