A Letter to my Father, About my Basket Case Cousin

A couple years ago my momma explained to me why she disliked my uncle and didn't talk to him at all.

But she told me and my siblings not to judge him based on what he did to her.

She told us not to hate him just because she did.

Now put yourself in my shoes.

I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying that you can be done giving him chances- but just because you are doesn't mean I have to be.

I understand that he might not deserve any more chances and I won't give him or anyone else rides in your car.

But if you and everyone else, including me, turn their back and leave him on his own, then he's not going to have anyone.

I just want him to be able to see his children.

I'm not going to stop being nice to people, because I wouldn't want someone to stop being nice to me.

I am not going to stop believing in someone's potential just because someone else told me to.

It might be stubborn but I get it from you.
