Being in The Scorch was brutal. The hot days and freezing nights tore me apart, I couldn't stand it.

During the day, Thomas always made sure I was okay and that I didn't get sand in my eyes from the wind.

The storms at night were rough. It was already bad enough that it was cold, but sometimes an electric storm rolled in with a lot of lightning.

This night was calm, but still freezing. We were laying on the ground and I couldn't fall asleep, and Thomas noticed.

"Y/N, come here," Thomas said gesturing me to come to him.

I crawled towards him and layed down next to him.

"I-I'm so co-cold," I said shivering.

"I know, me too," Thomas said in a comforting way. "We'll make it through, I promise."

I cuddled next to him, and in that moment, I felt safe and warm in his embrace. Before I fell asleep, I whispered,"I love you, Thomas. I always have."

"I love you too, Y/N," Thomas replied.

Then I fell asleep happily.

I woke up and I realized I was still next to Thomas. The sun didn't rise yet, but it was the morning.

"Good morning, Thomas," I whispered, and he groaned a little.

"Yeah, good morning, love birds," Newt said loudly, startling me.

I quickly sat up.

"We are in a life and death situation here, and you think it's okay to cuddle?" Minho asked.

"I was just keeping her warm!" Thomas said and sat up too.

"We heard what you two were saying," Frypan said. "I love you," he said mimicking us.

I blushed, something I hadn't done in a while.

"Y/N," Thomas said. I looked towards him and he kissed me. I was surprised, but it felt so right, so I gave in.

"Let's go, shanks. We have a long way to go," Minho said interrupting us.

I haven't felt this happy in a long time, not even before the Maze.
