So. I beat Final Fantasy XV last night, and I have to say it did not end the way I expected. This rant will include various things that I felt strongly about for the game.

~*~*~* This chapter will include many spoilers for Final Fantasy XV. The game's ending will be discussed as well as several other major points. Please read at your own risk. ~*~*~*

So, let's start off with the "romance" in the game. Call me a jealous fangirl, but I don't believe Noctis and Luna should have ended up together. This time, though, I have a lot of points that help support my position.

Point #1: Throughout the entire game, Noctis doesn't seem to thrilled to be talking about her. For being his "beloved" and someone he really cared about, he didn't honestly seem interested in her. If he was, then it was more like a childhood friend than love interest.

Point #2: They both seem to act like their marriage is more of a duty than a love thing. I mean, they are both extremely formal with one another when speaking. And most of the game, when Luna is speaking to Noctis, she says, "I must guide you as the Oracle". She doesn't seem to have deeper feelings.

Point #3: They barely know each other. So they were friends for, like, a year when they were kids. She makes it sound like they knew each other for way longer than that, and that they interacted more. The most interaction they had for the 10 years following their kid stuff was basically as penpals.

Point #4: She is kinda pathetic. I mean, she is in the game for basically five minutes and then dies. And in the little time she is in the game, she is portrayed as a "strong character". She seems more like a damsel in distress. She got shanked by a dude and then died.

Point #5: Iris Amicitia. Iris is a much better female character than Lunafreya. I mean, she becomes a daemon hunter later on. She is witty, sweet, can handle herself, and not to mention she is obviously completely into Noctis. Obviously somebody that created the game shipped them too, because there is a whole side quest where you give her flowers.

This is just me. I mean, there is nothing supporting the potential love between Noctis and Luna. Even the ending between the two at the very end of the game shows them interacting very awkwardly and stiffly. It didn't seem like they absolutely love one another. That whole part, though, really detracted from the sadness of the ending.

Which is my next ranting point. The fucking ending. It destroyed me.

If the fact that the main character dies at the end of the game isn't enough to pull at your heart strings, then the rest of what they did is.

As you are about to face Ardyn, Noctis asks Prompto to let him see his pictures. The player then has the option to choose one of them for Noctis to take with him. In the ending credits, it shows this picture, and I of course had to choose a really feels filled picture. It was a picture of the group with Talcott, Iris, Cor, Cid, Monica, and Dustin as they are about to leave for Altissia.

And of course, the damn game creators decided to play Florence + The Machine's cover of Stand By Me, the theme of the game, while also replaying the first lines of the game.

After the credits, it adds more to your pain by showing the final discussion by the campfire between the boys. It is one of the most emotional scenes, for both the players and Noctis. The line, "You guys... are the best." killed me.

Cue more credits, and the retarded scene between Luna and Noctis (which made absolutely no sense since both of them are dead...) and then the game is finally over.

This game truly killed me. Not much in game, though, considering the game is pretty damn easy. I mean, it took me less than five minutes to defeat Ardyn. I was relieved, yet also disappointed.

I had originally planned to play the game again, but I can't handle going through those hard emotions again. It is a really tough game in the end. Not playability wise, but more emotionally.

So yeah. It feels good to get this out of my system. Thank you Square Enix for ripping my heart out once again. Can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3. That should be really uplifting...
