Pissed

Giniya kaagad kami ni Mrs. Mabatid sa isang exclusive room sa restaurant. Pagpasok palang namin ni Hendrick ay pinasadahan ko na nang tingin ang lugar.

The ambiance of the place is relaxing. The room is painted in beige. Sa ibabaw sa gilid na dingding ay may nakalatag na iba't-ibang mga inspirational sayings at mga colored brown antique stuffs. So obviously,a crisp of brown ang theme sa restaurant na ito. Sa tapat ng kinatatayuan ko ay kitang-kita ang mga puno sa labas kasi glass ito na may terno din nang pandayuhang disenyo. Ang mga kagamitan naman mula sa upuan at mesa ay varnished wood. Pati ang chandelier sa itaas ay hindi nagpalagpas.

Nakahilera na sa mesa ang iba't-ibang putahe mula sa iba't-iba ring bansa sa mundo. Nakatayo naman sa malapitan ang mga chefs.

"The chefs would like to present their dishes ma'am...sir. Para makapili na din kami ng official menu sa hotel once it will open. Hanggang ngayon,nagdadalawang isip parin kasi ang head chef kung ano ang dapit ihain sa menu. So we would like to hear your suggestions." Mrs. Mabatid started. She smiled and then faced to the chefs.

Tumango naman 'yung pinagitnaang chef na may black na apron. Siguro,their head chef.

"I'm glad we could help. Eventhough it's not necessary. Kasi alam ko namang magaling na po kayo sa mga ganito."I humbly said.

Honestly speaking,I am very glad for the opportunity. Nasisiyahan akong naisip nila ang ganito. Because it only means they really earn some respect sa nakatataas sa kanila. Kasi magagawa naman 'to ng manager.

Mrs. Mabatid guide us to sit. I sat in proper manner saka binalik ang paningin sa head chef. Nahagip naman sa gilid ng aking mga mata ang pag-upo din ni Hendrick sa giliran ko.

"Hello again,Miss Vios."he genuinely smiled.

I just nod in response.

"We would like to present in this section...famous main dishes from Spain!"

He pointed the direction at dahan-dahan naman iyong nilatag ng kanyang mga kasamahan sa tapat namin.

"This is gazpacho ma'am," He lifted the dish for me to determine it saka binalik uli sa table.

"Made with full-flavoured Spanish tomatoes. Usually eaten as an appetizer. While this thick soup is made from blending a whole heap of fresh tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, garlic, onions, vinegar and herbs. Perfect po ito lalo na't summer. This one also has low calorie and proven delicious."dagdag pa nito.

I raised my fork at sinimulan na nga ang pagtikim.

And....ang sarap nga.

The presentation went on and on. So as my eating. 'Yun pa nga lang. Busog na ako.

Alright,the foods were superb! I count it even as the best dishes I've ever tasted. No doubt,their skills are unquestionable.

However,I felt like there's lacking.

Nilingon ko si Hendrick. Pero busy ito sa pagkain. Hindi ko alam na matakaw pala ang isang 'to.

"What can you say ma'am?" The head chef asked.

Ano nga ba ang kulang,Shen? I tried to think again.

...Then it struck me.

"Right,all your dishes are delicious. And I know how much effort you put on every bit of it. But..I'm sorry tell this... But I've got a feeling there's lacking. While I was tasting earlier,sabi ko...masarap naman...pero bakit may kulang? I tried to think kung ano,kung kulang ba sa asim,sa ganun,sa ganito. Then finally, I realized something.The thing is,this is the Philippines...this is Katipa. Known also for their world-class dishes. Loved by most Filipinos. It's okay for me if you add these international dishes to the official menu. But most importantly,dapat bigyan natin nang halaga ang sariling atin. Because that's what we came from..and for the tourists to be able to love our services first from our food...first from the foods from our country or from this municipality kasi alam natin sa simula palang,panalo na ang panlasa nito! I would like to suggests seafoods para sa main dishes. And add some delicacies for desserts from Katipa. If that's okay with you,all."
