A Gift (Poem)

Life if granted to the living, would be granted by she

For by her living, life was given me

Now in her dying breath, my own was taken me

There is nothing else but death, if life has forsaken she

Life if granted to the living, I pray, would be granted by me

For I’d give my life to alive keep her be

If nothing there be left of her, nothing be left of me

I have cast myself off with her, awake to the floor of the sea

By her side, sleeping breathless, you’ll there find me

_______________________________________

This is written in a different lingo than I would usually use. I wrote it as an epithet to one of my characters, by one of my characters as more of an exercise than as actual text.

I liked the lilt and rhythm it presented, and fell in love with how it turned out. It isn't for everyone. But I write in many different styles. So not everything I do will strike the right chord with people.
