The Betrayal

Chapter 2

Amethyst P.O.V

Amethyst couldn’t help but feel miserable as she walked to the cafeteria. The day was almost over and she hadn’t met her mate yet.

Maybe he isn’t here…

As she mindlessly walked through the now empty halls, she bumped into a soft wall. She quickly got up not wanting her classmates to have more ammo to tease her about.

As soon as she raised her eyes, she felt the world around her disappear. She met gorgeous gray eyes that were surrounded by long lashes. She felt amazing sparks ignite in her arm as the owner of the gorgeous gray eyes helped steady her. She got a quick look of all of him as he helped her up. She froze when she realized who it was.

 Lucas, the soon-to-be alpha was her mate.

She couldn’t help but feel happy when she realized it was him. He had never hurt her or treated her as harshly as everyone else did. Her happiness quickly evaporated when he uttered the words that would break her heart.

“We can’t be together” Lucas said, his gray eyes staring at her emotionlessly.

“Why not?” she asked as hurt spread throughout her body.

“Look, the Crimson Blood Pack is one of the strongest packs in the world. What do you think will happen if people find out that the Luna is a human? They’ll laugh, that’s what. I need someone who is strong, beautiful, and perfect, and frankly, I don’t think you’re the person for the job. That is why I, Lucas Hale, reject Amethyst Knight as my mate”

Amethyst felt her heart break as soon as she heard the words. She couldn’t help but cry as she responded to his rejection.

“I, Amethyst Knight, accept the rejection of Lucas Hale”  As soon  as she spoke the words, Amethyst ran towards the school’s doors, hoping to escape some of the pain.

As soon as she reached the nearby woods, she fell to her knees, crying her heart out.

“Ames? What’s wrong?” she heard Katie’s voice before feeling arms wrap around her.

“My ma-mate he..he…he rejected me!” Amethyst cried out “He doesn’t think I’m good enough for him. And he’s right! I’m NOT       good enough! “

Katie quickly rubbed her back, trying to calm her down. “Who was it? Tell me so I can give him a piece of my mind”

“No, please don’t ! It was Lucas, but please don’t confront him. I would hate myself for the rest of my life if he hurt you because of me”

“Wait, Lucas-soon-to-be alpha Lucas-is you’re mate!?!” as soon as Amethyst nodded she saw a strange look cross Katie’s eyes. It quickly vanished before Amethyst could interpret it. Her tear-filled eyes must have imagined it.

“What should I do?” asked Amethyst.

“Look, there is nothing you can do okay. You should just stay away from him, and let him find a more suitable mate” Katie answered. Katie’s harsh response shocked her, and when she tried to look into her friend’s eyes she froze when she saw all the hatred they contained. Amethyst had never seen her best friend angry before, and to be honest, it scared her.

She’s probably mad at Lucas for rejecting me, she thought.

Though Amethyst tried  to reason out her best friend’s behavior, she couldn’t help but feel doubt and sadness bubble up inside her, though she wasn’t exactly sure why.
