The Broken Record Player

"I trust you."
Those words escaped his hollow eyes;
They crept into mine.

It felt like all the ghost escaped its graves,
And embraced me for days.

I couldn't let go of how it sounded so real.
And when the battle day came,
He was the first to leave.

And until this very moment, I keep playing back that very second;
For a split moment,
When I really did trust him and beyond.

I feel like a broken record player.
I can't stop saying those three empty words.
"I trust you"
I here them echo.
