Sport is the new war, at least that's the case in SportPunk stories. Set in a world where war does not take place on a battlefield, rather in arenas with thousands of spectators in attendance cheering or booing, 'old war,' may well be illegal. In fact, all forms of violence may well be illegal outside of officially sanctioned bouts/matches.

Trouble in Northern Ireland? Settle it with the Gaelic Games...

North Korea are threatening nuclear strikes? Leave that one to the World Surfing Championships...

Middle East issues? That's nothing a game of cricket won't sort out!

Of course, the abovementioned sports may well be brutal, bastardised versions of the ones we know and love. In fact, authors may choose to invent even more violent sports than already exist. It's not like we, as a race, don't like killing each other, after all...
