Chapter 42

Waking up my head felt cloudy but what did I expect I’d probably just had a million bolts of electricity run through my brain.

Looking around, I realised we hadn’t even reached Advertise Anything yet, as I saw Steve give me a quick glance; his hand holding my arm tightly.

My hands were tied behind my back as I could feel my wrists constricted by a set of unforgiving cable ties.  Shifting in my seat, Steve dug his fingers harder into my arm, obviously irritated with what happened at Peatry’s house.

‘Behave child or you will not like the solution’!

Growling I snatched my arm out of Steve’s trying to get to my feet.  It didn’t take very long for Steve to half stand and kick me in the stomach, pushing me back into my seat.

‘What was that for’!

Steve grinned his evil smirk, ‘I said behave, I told you, you wouldn’t like the solution’.

Of course it wasn’t until now that I noticed Mrs Kingsmen sitting almost opposite to me; her eyes watching with me with distaste but curiosity.

‘My dear please stop struggling, I am pleased to inform you that you have been chosen for a special project at my company’.

Being promoted and chosen at Advertise Anything was never a good sign, especially around this crazy woman.

‘From day one you have intrigued me, and now I have discovered you possess a heredity ability to heal at a faster rate than most; with this proven you will become one of my valued test subjects’.

Scoffing I knew I wouldn’t like the sound of this.  I was returning to the torture chamber of a very confused woman.  I should have killed her when I could……………..

‘Really well isn’t that grand, as soon as I get my hands free I will make sure you never see the light of day again; I will watch as you die slowly and painfully by my hand you witch’!

Trying to jump out of my seat again, Steve held me to him stopping me doing anything out of his arm’s reach.

Mrs Kingsmen chuckled at my enthusiasm, ‘I’m glad you’re so keen to start and good luck with that little death threat of yours.  So many have tried and all have failed so I expect you will fail also, my dear’.

This woman infuriated me as much as before, just the sound of her voice together with that evil look on her face was enough.

I felt as the vehicle slowed, excitement almost rising in me thinking I was going to be rescued.   From the front of the car, I heard the driver talk back steadily.

‘Here we are Ma’am, would you like me to accompany you in’?

Mrs Kingsmen nodded, waiting for the driver to open her door as she climbed out elegantly.  Saluting Steve, she smiled ready to depart; ‘I will be back momentarily, at any sign of a fight page Bill here and it will be dealt with’.

Shutting the door behind her, I wondered if Steve would let me go now that we were alone; boy I was wrong……………….

‘You stupid cow’!

Steve sent one heavy punch to my cheek, making slump against the window.  His face crooked and angry; ‘I give you one task and you blow it!  All you had to do was stay away from Liam’s house until my boss was satisfied you weren’t there but no, you come in guns blazing and try to kill her’!

Whimpering in fear Steve obviously still batted for my side but I had made this hard for him.  ‘Do you know what you’ve done Spitfire’?

Steve was beginning to calm down, rubbing his temples desperately, obviously feeling the need to beat me up some more.
