Chapter 14

The open space greeted me like hadn’t been allowed outside in years.  Of course, these people had thought this through, this was only a courtyard surrounded by a high rise metallic fences, barbed wire at each peak.

Well, I certainly wasn’t going to escape but I was sure, I could still make Steve’s life pretty difficult.

Taking in the fresh air, Hunter was standing next to me silent.

With him still saying nothing, I took off running to the other side of the courtyard; each step flexed my muscles as if I hadn’t been able to walk for so long.  Of course Hunter would be the one to interrupt my moment.

‘Hey Princess, bet you can’t beat me again’.

He was now running next to me, I’m guessing to him this was an invitation to race again but I really wasn’t interested.

Turning to Hunter I thought for a second, ‘hmm nah, I think I’ll just sit this one out……….’

Quickly sticking my leg out between a stride, Hunter tripped over my ankle crashing hard into the grass; such a shame it wasn’t concrete or something like that.

Skipping along to a halt, I was literally clutching my stomach laughing at what I had just done.  Hunter was now sitting up, looking slightly confused at what had just happened.

Skipping over by the fence, I admired how tall this thing really was.  Surely there was a way out of here.  That just happened to be when Hunter started running over to me, ‘you know princess, as much as I would love to play dirty with you; how about we call it even’.

Hmmm, calling it even meant Hunter was on the same level as me, I couldn’t have that.  I needed to be the one in charge that was the fastest and the strongest; though I’m thinking I might have to work on the strong part.

I saw in the corner of my eye Steve now walking over to us, what did he want now?

‘My dear, I believe it’s time for you to take your tablet’.

Tablet; Steve, yeah not happening………..  Taking off in the opposite direction Steve didn’t seem to chase me but Hunter did this time.  Keeping ahead, I pushed myself around the edges of the courtyard, half looking for a way out.

Hunter still kept on, he must have felt like he should do something this time; there was no way I was letting him catch me.

To my utter disgust I saw he was fairly close behind, maybe gaining on my speed.  It wasn’t until then I noticed that we were headed towards the corner where the fence met the building.

Turning sharp, I didn’t realise how slippery the grass was here.  My feet slid out from under me, making me crash hard onto my side.  Mud was now saturated up the side of my shirt and pants, as hunter stopped in front of me looking down at me.

‘Guess that’s karma for you princess’.

Smacking my head against the dirt, I growled into the grass surface.  It was now that Steve came over also standing over me.

‘Now you’ve got all that energy out of the way, if you’d be so kind as to take this tablet; I’d be most appreciative’.

Yeah ……. No; ‘I’m sorry Steve but you’ll have to turn a blind eye because I am not taking a tablet that could probably kill me in my sleep’.

Steve stood staring at me, holding the tablet to my face; ‘either you take it or I force it down your throat, take your pick’.

Snarling like I did around Steve, I didn’t dare move now seeing Hunter waiting for me to run past Steve straight into him.
