Chapter IV:

CALYPSO

I don't know how long it has been since Leo left.

*FLASHBACK*

Leo and I spent the night at the beach after we finished making a GPS for his boat.

Looking at him right now and seeing how determined he was to leave breaks my heart into million pieces.

We shared dinner together while calculating how many days we have until we finish making the boat that will carry him back to his friends.

"So how many days do you think until you finish the boat?" I asked him without looking in his eyes.

I know we got up in a wrong start but seeing how determined he was in finishing his quest, he showed me a hero worth loving. He showed me the hero I saw in Odysseus and Percy. He showed me the hero that will be leaving me soon. He showed me the hero I'm in love with. I loved Odysseus, Percy and now I love Leo.

"I don't know maybe one week? I'm not really sure." I can see how tired he was.

"Good." I said. A tear fell from my eye. I wiped it away as fast as possible hoping he wouldn't notice.

"You make it sound as if you don't want me here anymore." He held my face up with his fingers on my chin and looked at me intently in the eye.

"I thought you already know that." I tried keeping the pain in my eyes. His stare bore through my soul. I can't keep it anymore.

Then just before I say something I saw the magic raft appear on the shore.

"C'mon Leo! The raft has arrived." I ran to the shore and saw him running behind me.

"Come on, Calypso. Let's go. Come with me. Let's get off this island." He held my hand and pulled me to the raft.

"No Leo. I can't leave this place. You have to go alone." I pulled my hand away from him.

"No. I can't leave you here." He said. I saw tears streaming down his face. This is the first time I saw someone cry while saying his goodbye to me.

I'm lost for words. I can't say it'll be okay or I'll see him again someday because I know I wouldn't.

"I'll come back, Calypso. I promise." He said sobbing that I can't almost understand the words he's saying.

I can't stop my tears anymore. I wanted to believe what he said. I wanted to believe in happily-ever-afters. I wanted to hope for the best but I know that I will never experience the 'best'. I was cursed to suffer alone. I was punished. I'm stuck here forever. I'm stuck here alone wondering if the heroes I have met still remember me as much as I remember them.

"Leo, don't you get it? When you leave there's no coming back." I said.

"I have to help my friends, but once I finish the quest, I'll find you." I knew this was coming. They always chose their quest than to say with me but the pain strikes me as if it's always the first time.

I kissed him on the lips. A kiss I will never forget. A kiss to remind me that Leo was real.

"Go." Somehow I managed to smile. If this was the last time he'll see me, I don't want him remembering me as the girl who cried like a baby when he left.

After I said that he rode the raft and left the island.

And here I was alone, left with nothing but tears.

*END OF FLASHBACK*

I stare at the endless sea in front of me hoping to see a raft that will bring Leo back to me. Back to my island.

Though I know it's impossible.

I felt a stirring anger in my heart for Zeus. For not keeping his promise to set me free from this island.

He left you. You should've just followed my orders. You should've just killed the boy.

"I will not kill anyone for you, Grandmother!" I shouted back when I heard Gaea's sleepy voice.

You made the wrong choice disobeying me. Once I wake, this damned island you consider home will be no more.

"He'll stop you and you know that, Grandmother. I'm not afraid of you." I know he will stop her from waking. I know he will succeed.

And you really believe that his crew with those little demigods could stop me from destroying the Olympians? HA HA HA! Then you are delusional. No one, not even the gods can stop me from waking, Calypso, and when I do, I'll destroy your little Percy Jackson and Leo Valdez.

"Then try, grandmother. I believe those heroes can defeat you. I believe Leo will come back." I didn't know I was crying already. I just can't fool myself that Leo will be back after the quest.

You're not fooling anybody, Calypso. You know he is going to die and so are you and all other Olympian gods. Until then keep believing the impossible.

Just like that Gaea and her sleepy voice disappeared.
