Chapter XXVII

PERCY

I can't seem to find a comfortable position on my bed tonight.

Something seemed to bother me but I don't know what it is.

After long hours of forcing myself to sleep I decided to get out of my cabin and go above deck.

I put my hands inside my pocket.

I felt my anaklusmos.

"Dad, hey. It's been a long time since I've heard from you." I gave out a huge sigh.

I received none. Not even a sign that he was listening.

I gave out a bitter laugh.

"What do you expect, Percy? A good god will never choose their child over their responsibility. You're just his kid." I said bitterly.

As uncool as it is, I must admit I miss my dad. I miss getting his attention.

It's just heartbreaking to be risking your life to save theirs and you got nothing in return. All I wanted was to talk to him. All I wanted was to be able to talk to my dad.

I walked to the side of the argo II to have a better view of the sea.

At least looking at it reminds me that my dad is real.

That the Gods of Olympus are real.

That me and my friends being demigods are real.

That all of this are real and I'm not dreaming.

I felt homesick.

I wanted to see my mom and Paul.

I wanted to share blue pancakes and blue ice cream with my mom, my stepdad and Annabeth.

Once more I gave out a deep breath.

"What's wrong, Seaweed Brain?" I heard Annabeth's voice behind me.

I turned to look at her.

She reached for my hand and grabbed it.

"Daddy Problems." Somehow I managed to give her a faint smile.

"Yeah." She said briefly and moved closer to me.

She hugged me tight.

It felt good.

At least one of the most important person in my life is here with me.

At least I know Annabeth isn't going anywhere.

"Why are you still awake?" I asked her without letting go from our hug.

She turned to the sea.

Now I'm hugging her from behind.

She tilted her head a little.

"Same as you. Mommy issues." She bit her lower lip.

She was holding back tears.

"Hey. Hey. Shhhh." I tried calming her.

She turned to face me again.

"Percy, you know I did everything for the Parthenos. I walked to Arachne alone to retrieve her lost statue eventhough death awaits me there. I was dragged to Tartarus because of that. I've endured a lot for her. But it feels like all of my effort wasn't good enough." She was sobbing.

You can see sadness in her storm gray eyes.

"Hey.. You did everything you could. You brought the Parthenos back. You survived Tartarus. I'm proud of you. The Argo II is proud of you. I know Camp Half Blood is proud of you. Chiron is proud of you aren't we enough?" I felt her pain.
