“What are you doing Rebecca?” My Mum peered over my shoulder curiously, trying to glimpse at what I had been sitting at the bench for the last hour thinking hard about. “Homework?”
I was seventeen and to admit to her what I was doing would be beyond embarrassing and blushing I quickly covered it.
“Nothing”
“Looked like boy names”
“It’s not”
She smiled that knowing smile all Mothers seemed capable of perfecting and nodding went back to the sink to finish the dishes. As awesome as my Mum was, I could never tell her. I’d been doing it since I was thirteen and discovered just how interesting boys could be. Of course it was all just in print and at that stage of my life, I’d never even kissed one and three years later when I did, it wasn’t nearly half as magical as my favorite authors made it sound like it would be. I decided it was because they weren’t my true love. Afterall we all know true loves kiss is the most magical, powerful curse breaking thing in existence and I'm just not that keen on going through all the frogs until I find my prince.
He’d find me.
Retreating to my room to avoid further questioning I curled up on my bed with my notebook, looking over my top ten book boyfriends for 2006 and stopping at number one, I had no idea that he would be at the top for the next five years as each book in his series was released. Smiling I doodled another heart beside his name and to a second to admire my work.

After discussing ‘book boyfriends’ with some fellow wattpaders, I got the idea for this story. We all have our fictional crushes and this story is all about them! They may be fiction, but surely these guys could exist in the real world. This story is about Rebecca's perfect guy, 'Brock McDougal' and he might be a lot less fictional than she thinks!
