---------- Chapter 64 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Haden’s POV)

“Haden! Do something! Fight back or I’ll break her arm!” Sean hisses.

His voice drifts over me and it takes me a few moments to process what he said.

He’ll break whose arm?

“Is he conscious?” Sean demands, his voice getting further away.

Everything around me is dark, and I can’t see a thing. My body is aching and I realise I’m drifting in and out of consciousness.

A sudden sharp pain in my ribs makes me gasp.

I feel my lower rib snap and my eyes shoot open as I try to take the pain without crying out. I won’t give any of them that satisfaction!

My head whips to the side from the impact of the punch and tears well up in my eyes.

That’s when my eyes zero in on Skye.

She’s a few feet away from me. She’s being held by Sean, her right arm held at an awkward position away from her. Her face is set in pain and Sean is scrutinising my reaction intently.

He gives me a small, smug smile before pulling her arm further back.

There’s a sudden snap and Skye crumples onto the ground, shrieking in pure agony.

He broke her arm!

He f***ing broke her arm!

My own pain doesn’t seem to have that much of a hold on me anymore. All I can hear is Skye shrieking in pain. All I can see is her entire frame trembling as she’s in the foetal position.

Sean flicks his gaze down to his crumpled, sobbing daughter before his face sets in distaste. He looks back up at me, a challenging look on his face; the ghost of a smile on his lips.

Without thinking it through, I throw my head backwards until it smashes into the face of the Wraith grabbing onto me. I must have broken his nose or at the very least caused a lot of pain, because he immediately sets my hands free.

The moment I’m free, I duck down to avoid the punch aimed at me by another Wraith. I grab on to his knee and once again use my leg to smash his knee, breaking it easily. He rolls to the ground, his screams matching Skye’s.

That’s one more Wraith I don’t have to worry about. Three more and Sean, and I can get to Skye and hopefully help her through the pain.

I get up quickly, scouting out my next target; definitely the big guy! He poses the biggest threat!

Before I even get close to him though, one of the other two Wraiths comes at me and aims a savage kick at my left leg. It doesn’t snap or anything, but he’s definitely caused damage.

I lose my footing and fall to my knees, sending a sharp pain through my left leg.

“I think that’s enough of that move, Haden. Change things up,” Sean calls, watching me evenly. He watches the way I move, and everything. He’s studying me.

I get back up to my feet unsteadily.

The biggest Wraith holds his fists up and I move mine up too to protect my face.

But the thing is; I can’t see anything out of my left eye other then the colour red. That’s why I didn’t realise someone else had snuck up on me.
