CHARLEY'S POV
The crying girl finds a purple pen from a doctor and signs my cast. I gasp. It hurts my leg. She moves her hand sets from my cast and her eyes widen with apology.
I close my eyes, ignoring everyone, but the pain drowns me. Tears prick my eyes. My leg feels like fire and it seems like someone is knocking on my head repeatedly.
I stiffen as pain swims up to my finger tips and hits my nose. I let out a sob as my stomach aches from both hunger and the endless cuts made by metal and some old boo boos from Daddy.
All the girls are screaming. I hurts my ears and makes the knocking harder on my head. I sob again and try to cover my ears. My hands seem to be stuck. I look down at the cords attached to my skin. That's where the pain is.
I try to pull away and the pain relieves the farther I pull.
"Hey! Stop her!" Shouts a bushy eyebrows man. I work harder to detach myself from the stinging wires. A nurse runs over quickly and touches my arm with her fingertips.
I scream because her fingers feel like fire. I feel like I'm burning. The flames from her fingers spread up my arms. Is the man downstairs trying to lure me in? I don't want to go down there!
What should I do? Everything hurts! My mind can't think straight, it's only thinking crooked. Where's Demi? Why isn't Hercules here? Why am I at the hospital. Nothing is clear. Why- I know what I need! It's so clear!
I need Demi.
I pull my arm away from the lady and hear more doctors running towards me. I struggle to open my mouth and breathe through the pain. I can't breathe without Demi.
"Demi..." I whisper shout, trying to breathe in enough to get everyone's attention. They all continue shouting, screaming, and running around. I feel dizzy.
"Demi!" I say, much louder this time.
I hear bustling about the room as the girls and boys finally listen. I struggle arduously against the tight grip of the nurses and doctors as they poke the wires into my skin.
"Get Demi!" Shouts a very low pitched voice.
"Oh God!" Squeals a boy.
"What's happening!" This question is repeatedly asked. I wish the doctors would answer cause I too want to know what's wrong with me. I feel my stomach spinning. I hold my breath.
"The b**ch deserves to die just leave her alone!"
Wait... what does 'b**ch' mean? I've heard Daddy say it. Does it mean person you love? But why would the man who said that want some one they love to die? This thinking hurts my brain even more.
I scream as loud as I can and everything goes quiet, well at least it does for a few seconds.
Chaos. Amidst the chaos, I find sleep. Overwhelming sleep.... good night....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That tickles. I wish Demi would stop! That tickles!
"Stop!" I giggle whisper. It won't stop and the tickling is unbearable.
"Stop it Demi!" I say a little louder.
I hear the door open and the clinking of heels.
"Yes, baby?" A soothing voice whispers in my ear.
"Stop tickling me!" I giggle again as she tickles my arm.
"But I'm- oh! That's just Hercules, baby." She says, laughing at me. What's so funny? And what's that weird smell? Kinda... metallic? I crinkle my nose and slowly open my eyes.
I open my mouth in horror.
Laying next to me is a shivering dog with a damaged ear. He's shivering from fright because he has only three legs. He must also be cold, because a strip of fur is missing along his back. I debate scooting farther away from it or closer.
I scoot closer.
Hercules didn't do anything wrong, I decide. He just wanted to protect me. I remember how my puppy had barked at the truck and sat on top of me.
Demi moves hair out of my face, making me flinch. Her face changed to what seems to be worry. I wonder why?
I close my eyes again. I feel heavy. It feels like someone Is holding me against the bed. I don't like this feeling at all.
"Please help?" I ask Hercules and helical my arm. I squeal and he jumps away, alarmed by the noise. I pay no attention.
"Demi?" I whisper so Daddy won't hear me.
"Yes, baby?" She says while crouching onto the floor.
"Can we go home?" I ask. My throat is sore and my eyes are wet. I don't want to be here anymore.
"Not right now." She replies and starts looking at her phone.
"Please?"
" Charolette ,I said no." Her voice got higher and rougher.
I turn away and wipe my eyes. She called me 'Charolette'. That's what Daddy called me. I don't like it. I am Charley.
"Don't call me that."
Demi freezes and looks up at me. I look at her brown eyes and make a mad face. I'm mostly just trying to see what will happen.
"Don't call you what?" Demi asks, a hint of amusement in her voice.
"My name isn't Charolette Cunningham. I want to be called Charley."
Demi stares at me and smiles.
"Okay, but we need a middle name for you." What's a middle name?
"I don't want one."
Demi sighs.
"If you let me give you a middle name and change your last name, I will let you come home. Deal?" I consider this. I really want to go home but I don't exactly want or need three names. I guess I should just make Demi happy.
"Fine."
"Okay. Which name sounds better? Charley Rae Lovato, Charley Dove Lovato, or Charley Denise Lovato?"
Hmmmmm. I think I like the first one, but I'm not sure.
"What about Charley Rae Dove Denise Lovato?" Asks Demi. I look at her with a crazy face and shake my head. She giggles.
"Why not Charley Kit Lovato?" I ask. I only remember one sweet food I've ever eaten and that was a Kit Kat. I snuck from Ariel's bag.
Demi nods slowly and a smile spread across her face. I smile too.
"Sure! Now smile!" I'm already smiling.
A flash goes off. I blink and rub my eyes as Demi types furiously on her phone.
"Now let's go home Charley Kit Lovato, my miracle."
That's me.
Charley Kit Lovato.
