DEMI'S POV
I hug Charley and feel tears prick my eyes, but they're happy tears. I finally pull away to see Charley almost in tears, too. She doesn't seem happy, for the corners of her mouth are rugged down low and her lips are quivering.
"Are you okay, sweetheart?"
She slowly nods and wipes her eyes. I look into the swirls of green, blue, and gold deep in her eyes and see her past. I watch hatred, fear, and loneliness swerve in and out of her head as she tries to stay strong.
I sigh,"Are you hungry?"
She eagerly nods. Wow, I'm stupid. I asked an orphan if she was hungry. Whatever.
"Hmm.." I open and close every cabinet to find nothing but Cheetos, Ramon, and oyster crackers,"I don't have much to make unless you feel like noodles and crackers for breakfast. Maybe we should just go to Starbucks."
Charley looks at me blankly. Wait, five year old who has only been to three places in her whole life.
"Starbucks is a coffee shop that sells muffins, doughnuts, apple juice, and a bunch more food."
She nods and looks at our clothes.
I snap my fingers," Good idea, we should probably get dressed." Charley is like the half of me that I'm missing. She seems to remind me of all the important stuff. Like getting dressed before barging into Starbucks for a lattè.
I run upstairs as she bounces behind me as quickly as her skinny, short legs could carry her.
We walk into her room and I remember, Charley has no clothes. Well, she has clothes, they're just not the kind of clothes I prefer.
"Hey, Char, do you wanna go shopping today? We can get some new clothes and at least a bed." I say as I pull the nicest skirt and shirt she has out of the still unpacked Walmart bag.
She nods her head, grabs the clothes, and runs to the bathroom.
Now what should I wear? After considering about five combinations, I decide on a black tank top, denim shorts, silver colored six inch heels, and a black hat. I am so excited that I can wear shorts! It's already August! I'm sad to think that summer is almost over.
I walk out into the hallway to see little Char walking down the stairs. I quickly swoop behind her and lift her up. Her eyes grow wide in shock as she attempts to escape.
"Where do you think you're going!" I exclaim as little giggles escape her mouth.
"You don't think you can get away from me, do you?" She nods her head and leaps out of my arms.
I skip two steps at a time and try to catch up with Charley. She runs into the kitchen and then to the living room. Finally, she stops and settled for a tiny crack in between the wall and a book case where I can't reach her.
"How did you get there?" I ask, panting.
She shrugs and looks at her feet.
"Well, let's go, munchkin." I rub my aching feet. It's a bad idea to run in heels.

We sit in the back of my limo together because my body guard, Jo, is driving us to the mall.
Charley gapes at the sodas and candy stored in the compartments of the limo and I laugh at her.
"You can eat some now, but don't spoil your appetite."
What the actual f**k I'm talking to a five year old and expecting her to understand every word coming out of my mouth. Well, whatever that old  b**tch at the orphanage has done to her brain should've helped her learn a little.
Charley literally buries her face in Musketeers and Nutty Bars. Jo looks at the rear view mirror and grins at her sweet innocence.
We turn into the parking lot and Jo turns around.
"Remember to keep away from paparazzi."
Charley lifts her face, which is littered with chocolate, and feigns a quizzical look.
"Oh yeah. This is my body guard, Jo. He protects me."
Charley emerges from calorie heaven and flashes her frightened eyes frantically in all directions. I giggle and pat her as if to say it's okay. I then carefully wipe the smudgy calorie filled goodness from her face.
I then run off into the distance. I feel majestic, until I trip on a rock. I jump up and point at the rock.
"You mother f**king b**tch! You tried to kill me!" I scream .
I pout as I hear Jo laughing behind me. I guess a best friend's gotta laugh at the other's stupidity.
I shrug off the hurt and begin to skip, trying not to be the victim of yet another rude rock.
"We're at the ma-all! I love the ma-all!" I skip, my hand in Charley's as we enter the mall. Luckily, there's no paps to come bug us.
Charley and I happily bound into Starbucks to smell the coffee beans and old fashioned doughnuts.
The cashier looks at me and makes a face then asks me," Do I know you?"
I giggle,"I don't know. Do you recognize the name Demi Lovato?"
The girl, Jill as her tag says, gasps and stutters," M-miss Lovato! W-what would y-you like to order?"
"Ummm.... I'd like a.. You know what?"
She shakes her head. Well, duh, I didn't tell her yet.
"Just surprise me."
She nods, writes something down, and looks curiously down at Charley.
"Baby, what do you want?"
Charley points at an old fashioned doughnut and the picture of a strawberry smoothie.
"One old fashioned doughnut and a small strawberry smoothie, please." I smile as Jill turns around, but it quickly fades. There are red and a few white lines on her wrists.
She turns around again, so I take the opportunity. I kiss her wrists and say,"Keep fighting, remember to stay strong." Tears start to flow out of her eyes as she hugs me and whispers," I will."
Charley taps my shoulder and scares the crap out of me. She points at a group of men and women in black with cameras and microphones.
Paparazzi.
