                                                                  37.

I woke up with someone hitting the damn doorbell in what seemed to be an attempt of breaking it. What time was it after all? I felt like I hadn’t slept more than half an hour, to be honest. And still, I got to dream with her. I was such an idiot when I was in love, right?

“I’m coming! Dammit! Wait a bit!” I yelled at the door, going to the guest room to check on Kirst…

Yeah, she wasn’t there. Maybe she was the one at the door? I wouldn’t find it weird if she was the one trying to make me deaf with that buzzing sound. To be honest, the idea sounded a lot like something she would do just to piss me off; though I doubted she would come back anytime soon. I didn’t fully expect her to stay here with me the whole day long, but I’d love to be surprised. Maybe the odds are on my favor?

As I opened the door, squeezing my eyes a bit so I could focus on the human being in front of me, I got to the conclusion that no, the odds weren’t on my favor. Mark and Davie were the ones at my apartment, and Kirsten was nowhere to be seen. I’d go after her later.

“Hazza!” Mark yelled, already walking in without permission. Seriously, what was wrong with that guy?

“Hey, Haz,” Davie softly said, nodding his head as a greeting and following Mark closely behind. Uhn, excuse me? Did I say they were welcome without noticing? I must’ve.

“Geez, mate, this is a mess!” it was Mark’s voice coming from the sofa, where he threw himself at while turning on the TV.

“Good morning to you, too. Now, if I may ask you,” I said, closing the door and walking towards both of them, still sleepy enough to bump into the coffee table and hit my foot on it. Sh–t, it hurts! “Ouch! What the f–ck are you doing here right now?” I finally asked, looking at the clock and realizing it was nothing but 8am. It’s a Sunday, for God’s sake! I wasn’t planning on waking up sooner than 3pm.

“Yeah, we kind of have plans for the day. The girls asked us if we’d like to spend the day at their camping house, which is like, 2 hours from here, and we said yes. So… As we haven’t spent much time together lately, we decided that we’d take you with us,” Mark explained and then winked at me. “Plus, Leigh and you are pretty close.”

I laughed, throwing myself on the sofa next to Davie as I watched him roll his eyes. What was that?

“Anything wrong with it, Dave-Dave?” I teased, not really looking at Mark. I was too amused with the way he was starting to blush. “Oh, you fancy Leigh?” I asked, and this time, Davie glared daggers at me.

“We can find you another date, Dave. Leigh is Harry’s already.”

“No, she’s not. And I’m not going. As you said yourself, this is a mess, and I need to finish my project for uni. If you’re free to do whatever you want, I’m not,” I said straight away, and Davie kind of sighed in relief. I might need to talk to Leigh about him. He’s no better than Mark – both are lazy as hell – but at least she won’t have to worry about seeing him with another girl. They’d kind of look cute together, to be fair.

“C’mon, Harry. Lately you’ve been avoiding us. Last night we called you a billion times, and you answered none of our calls. I’m starting to get worried about you.”
