Chapter 7:

I was sitting on the ground, next to Seff. My heart was pounding in my ears. I wasn't crying. I wasn't in enough pain to do so. My heart was being seared my an invisible sword. The one I loved laid on the ground. I was dead, dying, decaying. Seff was me.

I was dead.

A guttural sob escaped my mouth, my eyes burned so much. I scrunched my face up. I took fistfuls of my hair, trying to ease the pain.

But... Dead men don't groan or move or anything of that sort. Right?

Well Seff was groaning. As I uttered his name under my breath, Seff had began to move. I paused, staring at him with fear in my eyes. His hand was on his head, but he seemed out of it. I was shaking like a chihuahua. But I placed my hand on his head.

He was hurt on his head.

"Seff," I uttered, only to be chided by Seff himself.

"Why are you outside the cabin?!" He growled.

For an injured man, his voice sounded just fine. I helped him stand upright.

"I thought you left me!" I cried and Seff smiled.

"I would never leave you, I went to get some flowers to make it up to you." He explained.

I felt incredibly silly at the moment.

"But its a good thing you came after me." He sighed.

"I thought you were dead," I whined and Seff laughed.

"I'm wounded and healing. I'm a werewolf, Red. We are made of much stronger stuff than humans." He sighed.

Then I halted.

"If you are made of stronger stuff, then how did Alex harm you like this?" I asked. Seff became rather silent.

"He's the NewBorn, isn't he?" I asked. I was not up for anymore lies. I needed to know what was what and who was who.

Seff was silent.

"In all honesty, I know he isn't human. Heck, who is, no one is around here. But not strong enough to be a NewBorn. Like you, you are strong, I'll give you that. But a NewBorn? No. A Werewolf? No. This is all mind games. I thought it was me, or your father, or Alex or your grandmother. But I think the NewBorn is just winding us all up. Playing us against each other, that makes so much sense."

"Are you delirious?" I asked Seff as I slowly led him into the cabin.

He shook his head.

"Shocked? Yes. I'm tired as well." He said. I laughed.

"What do we do now?" I asked, I had become reliant on Seff for a lot now. Seff placed a hand on my cheek, his eyes became hooded.

I smiled and tried to move away from him, but he was too strong. I didn't put up a lot of resistance as he swiftly placed his lips upon mine, immobilising every fibre of my being. My body exploded in flames, the inferno sneaking up from the crown of my head to the tip of my toe. I was engulfed in euphoria as Seff's warm body enveloped me. My eyes were shut, yet behind my lids, all things pleasing played before me. I couldn't hear anything except from the ruffling of the sofa as I sat closer to Seff. My hands were all over Seff. I was all over Seff.

Everything revolved around us.

I lost all logical thought. Everything seemed right at this moment.

"Red?" I heard. There was a knock at my door.

We both stood up. My breathing was rough as I watched Seff head to the door. I let the door slide open... Only to reveal... My grandmother.

She was standing there, her hands shaking from the cold. I immediately invited her inside.

She limped into the house, she had a cloak on. I couldn't quite see her face.

"Why don't you have something to eat Grandma." I said. I looked around only to find that Seff was nowhere to be found.

I didn't look into it much.

"Why are you here?" I asked, my tone light.

She still had her hood on. I was beginning to get worried.

"Do you happen to know where Seff went?" I asked. She shook her head. Her hood fell a bit.

I catch a glimpse of her ears. They are huge.

"Grandma, what big ears you have." I whispered.

"All the better to hear you with," she said, matter of factly.

I scrutinise her face. It looks different.

"Grandma," I began, "What big eyes you have."

She smiled. "All the better to see you with."

Her eyes are large, wide and wrinkle free. It's like looking at the youthful version of her. Her green eyes glow so brightly, I'm slightly taken aback. Her green eyes zero me in, I can't move.

I can't feel anything rather than relaxed. It's unnerving and so blissful at the same time.

Grandma grinned even more, whilst shaking her head slightly. Her eyes began to glow, they turned amber, much like Seff.

"Are you sure you don't know where Seff is?" I asked. She was silent. I watched as she stood up.

I stood up too. She towered over me.

"Grandma, what long legs you have."

"All the better to chase you with."

"Chase me?!" I questioned. She nodded her head.

"Yes, when you were a child, I would play hide and seek with you." She explained.

I became slightly at ease.

"Grandma!"

Now I was alarmed.

"What big teeth you have!" I screeched. She was so close to me. I could feel her breath on my face.

"All the better to eat you with."
