May 2nd 1998. The family of four were curled up together on the sofa, Dora's head in Remus's lap and her feet hanging off the edge onto the floor. Teddy and Hope were curled up on their mother's stomach, both in a deep sleep.

"The wars coming Dora." Remus murmured, twirling her pink hair between his fingertips, "Any day now."

"I know." She sighed, looking up at him with sad, sparkling grey eyes, "You know I love you yeah?"

"Of course I do." He answered, slightly surprised, "I love you too, I always have."

"Then you'll know I'll never leave you. Where you go, I go."

"What did you think when you first saw me?" Remus said slowly, asking the question he had wanted the answer for for so long. Dora looked curiously at him, unable to move because of the two children.

"Wow." She said gently, holding his gaze, "I saw your eyes and I... well now look where we are." Before Remus could respond, a bright light filled the room and a second later Kingsley's lynx patronus was prancing around in front of them. After a couple moments of silence, the shimmering cat began to speak.

"Remus. Death Eaters at Hogwarts. Its begun." And then it disappeared, room dimming back to its original state. Dora visibly paled, nearly throwing the twins forwards as she sat bolt upright, but managing to hold them close to her chest.

"Let me go too." She said quickly, grey eyes filled with desperation and fear, "Please. I can get mum over to look after Hope and Teddy. I don't want to let you go alone. Please Remus." She placed the two children on the sofa, not waking them from their deep sleep. She turned back to face him, hair pale blonde.

"Nym." He whispered softly, cupping her cheeks in his large hands and wiping away her tears with a thumb, "Stay here. I could never bear to live with myself if you got hurt. The twins need you. I'll be back as soon as I can." He rose to his feet, face that looked years younger in the past month chiselled and determined. Dora also stood, biting her lip nervously as she looked at her husband.

"Come back to me." She sobbed, her voice cracking slightly though she tried to be brave, "I need you." Her softly trembling arms wrapped around his neck and she buried her face in his shoulder, inhaling the smell of chocolate and crisp air that made up the man she loved.

"I'll try." He said warmly, pulling back to place a kiss on her forehead, "I've got something worth living for here." She slipped from his arms and watched him give Hope and Teddy's cheeks a quick kiss whilst trying to hold in her tears.

"I love you." She murmured as he straightened up once more. Moving up onto tiptoes, her lips brushed over his cheek, mixed with tears.

"I won't say goodbye because I'll see you again." He replied, "Send a message to your mum. I don't want you to be here on your own during a war. Stay safe my darling." He placed another soft kiss on her lips, smoothing out her hair with the hand that wasn't searching in his pocket for his wand. And then he was gone, out of the door and out of sight before Dora could tell him that she loved him once more. But as she sent the patronus to her mum, she couldn't help but be scared of the fact that that might have been the last time she saw him.

"Oh go on then." Dora looked up from Teddy to see her mum standing there, hands on her hips, "I know you want to be with Remus. I'll look after my two beautiful grandchildren and you go find your husband." Dora's eyes widened in surprise and when what her mother had said registered in her brain, they grew even wider. With only a moments hesitation she jumped off the sofa and practically thrust Teddy into the witches open arms.

"Thank you mum." She sighed heavily, giving her a gentle hug around the baby between them, "I'll go say bye to Hope and then get to Hogwarts." She turned and hurried up the stairs, grabbing a coat as she ran. The baby girl was nearly asleep as her mother rushed into the room, small eyes just dropping closed. Dora crossed as fast as she could to the cot, still pulling on her jacket. The lilac haired child looked curiously at her mother, quiet as normal.

"I'll be back soon little one." She murmured, kissing her forehead and leaving a slight pink mark on the porcelain skin, "I'm gonna go find Daddy. See you tomorrow my gorgeous girl, look after your brother for me. And if I don't come back, be brave for me and your Dada. I love you." She kissed her again, tears nearly slipping from her eyes.

A small gurgle escaped Hope's lips, recognising the sadness in her mother's voice. After gently stroking the baby's cheek one last time, Dora turned and hurried from the room, flicking off the light as she went.

"Good luck my darling." Andromeda said quietly as her daughter entered the room, pale hair flopping over her face as she pulled on her boots. After managing to pull on her shoes, Dora stood up straight and walked closer to her mother and child. She pressed her slightly trembling lips to Teddy's cheek, calming him before he opened his mouth to scream.

"Love you mum." She said calmly, swallowing the lump in her throat as the two embraced tightly, "See you tomorrow. Stay safe."

"And you." The brown haired witch who so resembled Bellatrix nodded, "Try not to get hurt, they need you, both of you. Love you."

"Love you too." Dora said softly, voice barely above a whisper.

Andromeda listened as her daughter disapparated, wand clutched tightly in hand. Almost instantly, the colourful haired boy began to scream, missing his mother and worried by the tension in the air. He knew all was not right. And even as his grandmother tucked him into the blankets of his cot, he sensed her nerves. The night would feel like it lasted forever.
