The Selection

Chapter 22

I walked into a hallway where I accidentally hit straight into two people rounding a corner.

"Sorry." I say before catching a glimpse of the people in front of me, Sonya and Luciano still on their date.

Oh shoot, I interrupted their date. I hurriedly scurried away. I did not want Sonya to get mad at me nor Luciano.

I didn't notice Sonya behind me narrowing her eyes and her eyebrows crinkling and saying "What an odd and different girl." 

"Indeed she is." Luciano replied staring at me before briskly walking away.

There was Garadium News was filming tonight which meant my maids had to spend the day making a dress for me.

I was hopelessly bored, so I called Aurora to have a "hangout" before we had to get ready.

"So most embarrassing moment." I asked Aurora with a sly smile.

She groaned before answering "When I was in grade 5, I had this crush on this guy in my class so one day when I was writing a note to him for fun. I threw it away in the trash bin but the teacher had to pick up and say paper goes in the recycling bin before reading my 'love note.' I was so embarrassed cause she kept shooting weird glances at me." 

I started laughing, "Was the guy at least cute?" I asked.

"Yes, he had honey blonde hair and deep sea green eyes that made any girl melt like ice cubes in the summer." She said with a sigh.

"OO Aurora's lover boy." I said teasing.

She chucked a pillow at me.

After she left my maids dressed me in a simple black dress and black pumps before ushering me out the door.

"Don't overwork yourselves!" I called out before heading to the filming room.

The staff quickly set up chairs for the few Selected and usher us into seats.

I'm seated in the third row, above Sonya and beside Aurora.

They look equally dazzling, Aurora in a soft lavender lace dress while Sonya in a neon green one.

"And we're back." Said Asher in his wide smile.

"Welcome to Garadium News, today we will be interviewing and seeing some footage of the dates this past week." He says beaming at the invisible audience.

I saw the footages of the other girls dates with the Prince, some of them ended with a kiss, some didn't.

I noticed most girls shrinking when they saw some other girl kiss the Prince or their eyes harden.

I think in this moment, everyone realized who they're enemies were and who they could trust.

"My my, Prince Luciano quite a lot of kisses there." He said smiling.

Luciano looked a bit awkward under the light.

"Who haven't you kissed?" Asher winked at him.

"That's a secret." He said his face not giving away any hints.

Next came the interviews with the other girls, every girl said nice things about the date and Prince.

Aurora looked happy while she was explaining what they had done this past week, when it was finally my turn, I slowly walked down to the chair.

"Good evening Cassanda." He said smiling.

"Same to you." I said with calm face and smile.

"So how has Luciano been this week." He asked curiously.

I pretended to think "It had been....interesting." I said feeling puzzled.

"How so?" 

"Let's say I saw many of Luciano's kisses with the other girls and oh and one time," I said while laughing " I saw him and one of the Selected kissing in my room." 

"My, my." Asher said laughing with me.

The Queen and King looked amused and Luciano looked at me if I had gone insane.

"What did you do when you saw them?" Asher asked

"I did the only thing I could, I created a master plan to not get caught while I tried to sneak in and grab my book, but sadly my master plan failed." I said sighing.

"Well you seem like a very funny girl. Tune in next week Garadium!" Asher said finishing off with a wink and grin.

I noticed Aurora laughing and came up to me and said "Cassandra, that was brilliant." 

"Why thank you, thank you very much." I said bowing before laughing and walking with her to my room.

Luciano was looking behind at Cassandra with puzzled face before he walked off wondering what on earth had happened.
