"Rory," I warned firmly, my voice cutting through the air as the boy stumbled in, mucky and wet, followed by Osferth. Rory shot me a pouty look while Osferth merely shrugged his shoulders. I rolled my eyes as Rory dashed straight past me and collided with Uhtred's legs.
"He's a handful, just like his father," Uhtred pointed out, his deep voice carrying a hint of amusement as he leaned down and effortlessly flung Rory over his shoulder.
Beside me, Finan chuckled, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to the side of my head. "We wouldn't have it any other way, would we?" he remarked, his voice tinged with affection. I couldn't help but smile in agreement. "No, we wouldn't," I replied softly, feeling the warmth of his presence beside me.
"Let's pray for the sake of Bebbanburg that this little one isn't anything like Finan as well," Sihtric interjected, wagging a finger teasingly at my enlarged stomach. I couldn't suppress a laugh as Finan playfully nudged Sihtric back.
"You should pay attention to your own hoard of kids," Finan retorted, gesturing towards one of Sihtric's sons who zoomed past, knocking over a crate of apples. With a groan, Sihtric chased after his son, as Finan turned towards me.
"This one feels like a little fighter," Finan mused, his hands gently encircling my stomach. I couldn't help but grin at his observation. "Well, maybe the little fighter should wait until he's out in this world before kicking his mother into agony," I quipped, earning a chuckle from Finan.
"How do we know it's another boy?" Finan pondered, rising to his full height and wrapping his arm around my back as we began to walk. "Because no daughter of mine would put her mother through this much pain," I declared with mock seriousness, earning another laugh from Finan.
In that moment, amidst the echoes of the past and the promises of the future, I knew that we were exactly where we were meant to be. More importantly, I knew that I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Thank you for reading 'Vagabond'. I think anyone who watches Game of Thrones automatically watches The Last Kingdom as well so this was a little predictable. I haven't written a proper story in over 6 months so this was super fun. I spent over a month just working on it before even uploading anything and it has to be my most thought-out and well-written story. Debating writing a Sihtric one as well now but we'll see (already started writing it). I appreciate any comments, votes and kind messages.
